[Nico cosplay] Zenless Zone Zero Behind-the-Scenes Photoshoot Log

The behind-the-scenes log for this Zenless Zone Zero Nico cosplay is finally organized. The second photo was selected as the cover based on compositional proportions. Sitting on the green military crate with legs crossed maximized the elongated lines of the legs. During shooting, I needed to rest my full weight on my hips, lean my upper body back, rest my arms casually across my legs, and direct my gaze downward—instantly channeling that cool, mature aura. One of the core visual highlights of this outfit is the leg gear: the thigh garter at the top of the thigh, distressed Black stockings, and platform combat boots. These elements combine into a powerful visual punch, so when posing, special care was required to keep the stockings smooth and prevent unwanted creases from ruining the texture.

The first photo features an action full of stark contrast: leaning halfway out of a black industrial oil drum. This pose was actually quite uncomfortable—space inside the drum was tight, and my core had to engage hard to support my body, or else I would slide down. To find the right facial angle, the black ribbon headband on top couldn't block my line of sight, and hand gestures had to align—resting my chin in hand really tested hand placement, as the wrong angle would flatter the face poorly. The corrugated red steel sheets and scattered cool blue lighting in the background, along with the yellow backpack prop nearby, created a cyberpunk street aesthetic. This juxtaposition between the gritty industrial setting and the refined character styling is where the photos truly shine.

In terms of costume, while it looks very cool, wearing it is genuinely no easy feat. The jacket is made of stiff leather, the inner top uses thick structured fabric, and with the choker collar, gloves, belts, and various metal buckles, getting fully dressed took quite a while. To preserve the sharp, structured silhouette throughout shooting, the jacket sleeves needed constant rearranging to ensure enough of the leather gloves showed, while also watching the tightness of the belt to avoid pinching unflatteringly. This rich, textured attire against the cool Industrial style backdrop faithfully recreated the character's crisp, formidable swagger.

Lighting on set was quite complex; colored light sources easily caused facial color casts, requiring continuous adjustments with the reflector so the face consistently received sufficient natural or diffused soft light. Working closely with the photographer, we adjusted camera angles to find the best perspective. For example, in the second shot, the camera angle was intentionally lowered to elongate the legs and amplify the commanding presence. The first shot utilized the rim of the oil drum as a foreground element to add compositional depth.

Post-processing focused on faithfully capturing the texture of the on-site lighting while unifying the overall color palette. It preserved that moody, cool dark tone without sacrificing facial details. This set highlights the contrast in a standby state—the tranquil stillness of waiting in the shadows versus the detached, cold observation from up high—thoroughly recording the emotions this cosplay aimed to convey.
