[Komeiji Satori cosplay] Touhou Project Black Satori Project: Dark Gothic Girl

The Black Satori project for Komeiji Satori cosplay was placed on my bucket list a long time ago, and I was finally able to complete the shoot according to the planned concept. The entire process and final results felt closely aligned with my original ideas. Rather than strictly replicating the original pink-blue or red-blue color scheme, the overall look centered on a large area of black Gothic Lolita dress to craft a Black Satori image with a deeper sense of serenity and mystery.

For hairstyle, I chose a fluffy pink layered short cut. The straight-across bangs and rich layering on the sides matched the cool temperament of a gothic girl well. Although the color and structure of this wig might easily recall iconic hair of other characters—and indeed shares a slight resemblance here—I still personally appreciate its effect in this styling. If browsing through these photos reminds you of those characters, that's my bad, and my apologies in advance to them!

For makeup, I intentionally aimed for a cool porcelain skin tone. The eyeshadow blending chose pinkish tones paired with reddish-brown contacts, creating a glance that carries subtle emotion without being overly dramatic. Lip color used a matte orange lip stain to tone down the look, preventing the overall hue from becoming overly rich and yielding a harmonious textural contrast. The black Gothic Lolita dress was the focus of this shoot: the black lace rose headband subtly mirrored the bows on shoulders and chest, while the rhinestone shine on the brooch added brightness in dark lighting. The skirt has multiple layers, with lace ruffle details at the neckline adding gorgeousness. To balance the visual weight of the black dress, a bright yellow tube was chosen as a hand prop; this bright color pops vividly against dark attire, producing a strong visual jump.

Interacting with the doll was a delightful surprise for this shoot. The doll features red twintails, black cat ears, and a little dress, with well-crafted details on the green skirt hem and black-and-white striped knee-high socks. Holding it to cover half my face created a mysterious atmosphere blending playfulness with detachment. Studio conditions during shooting were somewhat cluttered, keeping birdcages and prop storage cabinets in the background, but this slightly lived-in and imperfect environment formed a very realistic shoot ambiance alongside the refined outfit.

Regarding retouching, I fully accept the label of heavy editing ("gao P"). Processing these photos took a lot of time adjusting color temperature and contrast to make the clash between cool pink and dark tones more pure. Throughout retouching, I preserved original makeup and fabric textures without altering my facial structure. Overall, this represents my personal expression of Touhou Project's Komeiji Satori in a gothic context. The black and pink pairing carries strong visual impact; while accuracy might diverge slightly from canonical settings, as a cosplay work combining personal aesthetic preferences, I am quite satisfied with the final atmosphere.
