This is a set of Nahida Cosplay photos taken in early summer when the hydrangeas were in full bloom. The Dendro Archon from Genshin Impact has a very unique temperament, carrying the agility and wisdom of plants, so I have always wanted to find a colorful and vibrant piece of nature to recreate her. It happened to coincide with the hydrangea blooming season at the botanical garden, where massive clusters of blue, purple, pink, and white flowers were crowded together, perfectly complementing her iconic white, green, and gold three-color outfit to create a strong sense of visual integration for this Dendro element cosplay.
In terms of makeup and styling, the focus this time was on the layering of the wig and the suitability of the colored contact lenses. The white long ponytail mixed with light green tips has a strong visual hierarchy, and during the trimming process, I intentionally kept some thin, stray strands of hair to create a slight floating feel when the breeze blows. The makeup avoided heavy techniques, preserving a translucent base while enhancing the harmony between the eye makeup and the green pupils, allowing her gaze to better convey a naive yet divine feel. The fabric of the costume was chosen to be quite lightweight; since outdoor shooting requires a lot of walking, the light and comfortable material helped in executing playful movements. For instance, the pose of standing on one leg in the photos or sitting on a stone platform with extended feet could be struck very easily. The metallic decorations on the shoulders and arms also had a great texture, and combined with the ankle-baring shoe design, walking through the hydrangea bushes made me feel very much like a little elf hopping around the forest.
The shooting process was actually a real test of on-site condition because outdoor light and surrounding tourists' movements would affect the rhythm, but the photographer was excellent at capturing moments. Aside from the pre-planned fixed poses, many times it was casual moments, such as fixing the hair by the sideburns or turning around to look at the camera right after walking up a flight of stone steps, which ended up looking more vivid than deliberately staged poses. When the sunlight filtered through the leaves onto my body, the white fabric and grass-green patchwork on the costume showed a translucent light texture, and the highlights perfectly accentuated the character's gentle personality. Special attention was also paid to the picture composition for this cosplay photography set; it needed to preserve the garden full of blue flower seas as a background foil without being overbearing or overshadowing the character. After several framing adjustments, these standing and sitting angles amidst the bushes became much more natural.
Every time I go to a hydrangea outdoor location for a themed shoot, it is a process of re-experiencing the character's charm. This set of photos does not just present the outer appearance, but hopes to express Nahida's natural closeness to plants, as well as her serene and healing life force. Sitting in the flower bushes for a while in this dress, it felt as if I could truly smell the early summer scent of plants and trees. I hope the visual images captured this time can deliver a sense of peaceful experience to everyone.
