This shoot covered two distinct looks for Azur Lane Ninghai: a kitchen maid outfit and an everyday cheongsam, spanning a wide stylistic range.
First, the kitchen maid attire: it features a purple-and-black sleeveless top paired with detachable white sleeves, adorned with traditional Chinese frog button knots at the collar and finished with maid-style ruffled hems. To complement the theme, I specially prepared a panda thigh ring and paired it with white over-the-knee stockings. The location was set in the back kitchen of a Chinese restaurant. To capture that lively, bustling culinary atmosphere, I balanced tall stacks of white ceramic bowls and bamboo steamers. The stack was actually quite heavy; keeping it steady required constant arm strength, turning the shoot into an impromptu workout session. With the kitchen stoves firing away, steam and cooking aromas drifted across the space, while the warm glow from the Chinese pendant lamp reflected beautifully off the tableware, creating fantastic ambiance. Holding the plates while maintaining a radiant smile and graceful posture definitely demanded solid core engagement.
Next came the cheongsam look: a purple mini cheongsam with high side slits, crafted from fabric bearing golden dragon jacquard patterns, layered beneath a longline coat with a plush white fur collar. For this styling, I coordinated black over-the-knee stockings with gold-ringed high heels. The outdoor location was set in a traditional Chinese courtyard. The daytime setup featured red maples and ornamental rockeries under crisp, luminous light, with a folding fan in hand as a prop. As night fell, lanterns illuminated the backdrop, allowing me to capture a set of evening shots cradling a plush panda toy. The cheongsam features a form-fitting cut, and the high-slit design naturally accentuated my leg lines as I walked; however, pacing back and forth across stone paving in heels was admittedly tiring on the feet.
Both outfits incorporated a twin-braid wig styling, accessorized with blue ribbon bows and bell-like hair ornaments. During the shoot, I dedicated plenty of time to adjusting the wig and costume details—particularly the high slit of the cheongsam and the cuffs of the stockings—to ensure clean visual lines in every frame. We wrapped up with a composited night scene framed with fireworks, where standing before a multi-tiered cake holding a dessert created an opulent, festive aura completely distinct from the rustic warmth of the kitchen set.
Throughout the entire shoot, whether in the maid uniform or the cheongsam, I made deliberate efforts to differentiate expressions and body language, hoping to convey the multifaceted charm of the character across diverse settings.
