I prepared this Nia costume from Xenoblade Chronicles 2 for quite some time, and since today happens to be my birthday, I'm finally sharing this photo set. The white hair and golden eyes, combined with those iconic large ears, offer instant visual recognition. We chose a waterside grassy slope of silver grass for this shoot; afternoon sunlight broke through the clouds, and the natural warm golden tone resonated harmoniously with the red, white, and gold accents of Nia's outfit, allowing the character to blend seamlessly into the scene.
Looking back at the garment's details, the golden semi-circular neck piece and the translucent blue gemstone on the chest serve as the visual centerpiece. To ensure authentic texture on camera, I selected a white fabric with a graceful drape, paired with a red cord and golden bell at the waist, giving the overall fit a crisp, spirited look. The detached sleeve design, matched with black wrist guards featuring white trims and white gloves, allowed generous range of motion during posing without feeling bulky or clumsy.
The over-the-knee boots on the lower half were a key detail that elevated the entire Anime-style fashion ensemble. The boot shafts feature gold border inlays and echoing blue gems, which, paired with a high-cut slit skirt, visually elongated leg proportions. While moving outdoors in high boots tested my physical stamina, these details couldn't be overlooked to faithfully capture the character's sharpness.
Styling the wig also required care. To achieve a fluffy, layered lightness, the team repeatedly trimmed the bangs and hair ends. The natural wind was strong on the shoot day, causing strands of white hair to drift alongside the silver grass; under backlit conditions, the hair framing my ears was rimmed with golden light, creating a wonderful atmosphere.
In terms of Outdoor photography, we experimented with varied camera heights. Poses like standing on one leg really tested balance; to let the wide cuffs and hem flutter naturally, we had to shoot the same pose repeatedly to catch the most satisfying frame. While backlighting significantly enhanced the premium aesthetic, it required the photographer to manage facial exposure promptly. The unpredictability of a real wild environment turned out to make the photos even more striking.
While portraying this character, I kept reflecting on her resolve to 'become stronger and protect Rex.' This strong sense of responsibility and resilient core makes her aura more than just cute—it carries decisiveness. Thus, I strove to capture crisp, clean movements and a steadfast gaze to convey her deep inner energy.
The outfit is actually heavier than it looks, especially the large ears, which needed very secure fastening to avoid tilting in the wind. But standing in this natural setting in full gear made all the prep feel worthwhile. The raw photos exceeded expectations—recreating eighty to ninety percent of such a detail-rich look on site was already very fulfilling.
This Birthday illustration set leans bright and fresh overall; a riverside landscape with silver grass perfectly suits this lively, animal-eared character setting. Beyond standard frontal gazes, I tried relaxed candid snapshots—turning to gaze into the distance or folding my arms while sitting casually among the reeds, striving to convey both tranquility and strength. The white, red, and black palette showed beautiful luster under natural light, highlighting the elegance of the character's design.
