Taking advantage of the clearing weather, I chose this bay for a Zhoushan travel photography session. The biggest challenge of shooting by the sea is having nowhere to lean against, so I brought a bouquet as a prop so my hands wouldn't look awkward. Wearing this black and white maid outfit along with silver-white twin tails, the hem of the skirt and the ends of the hair are gently lifted by the sea breeze as I walk on the beach. The light was very harsh today, but the high saturation of the blue sky and azure sea beautifully highlighted the lace on the dress and the black velvet texture clearly. Stepping into the wet sand was actually a bit chilly, but for that clean and translucent feeling in the frame, standing barefoot in the shallow water area was totally worth it.
During the shoot, I tried to turn my body sideways or look back over my shoulder to avoid the direct midday sun, while using the white foam of the waves as a foreground. Besides holding the bouquet in hand, it can also be placed behind the back or lowered down, letting the arms extend naturally. This look presents a very sharp black and white contrast under natural light; without too many complex accessories, it fits the refreshing temperament of the seaside perfectly. No heavy atmospheric filters were used in post-processing to preserve the native colors, hoping everyone can feel this sense of breathability with a hint of sea salt.
