This time I tried an outfit with an Eastern fantasy style and shot a set of cosplay photos in a real garden scene. The overall look is dominated by a white lace patchwork dress, paired with a dark blue skirt hem and a red bow, offering a rich sense of layering. The black upturned-horn hat on the head is highly recognizable, and combined with the long orange wig, it instantly distances the look from daily wear visually. When it came to prop making, the core prop is that purple wine gourd, pasted with handwritten-style talismans and decorated with red tassels. Combined with the chains, triangular pendant, golden sphere, and blue cube, it creates a balance that is both mysterious and a bit playful. During the shoot, we specially chose a park with a wooden corridor and stone steps near the water. The natural light filtering through the leaves made the clothing textures and prop materials look even more realistic.
To capture the texture of the chains and the gourd, the photographer tried various angles—standing, leaning against the railing, sitting on a rock, and even dynamic postures like lifting one leg. Every frame involved adjusting the props and the body's center of gravity to ensure the shot didn't collapse. This outfit has many details, such as the folds on the detachable sleeves, the floral decorations at the neckline, and the ruffles on the skirt hem. It heavily tested the lighting and composition during the actual shoot of this cosplay photography session; any carelessness could make it look cluttered. However, I am very satisfied with the final results, especially the shot where I am sitting on that large rock by the water. With a background of white walls, grey tiles, and green plants, the overall color tone is comfortable, and the character's expression and posture are very natural, perfectly expressing that lazy yet slightly mysterious temperament. In addition, the weight of the props was also a challenge, especially holding up the gourd while swinging the chains, which requires great arm strength support, but I thoroughly enjoyed it. This shoot gave me more insights into outdoor scene roleplay—the changing light and shadow of the environment are the biggest variables, but it is precisely this uncertainty that makes every single photo unique.
