For this Misono Mika summer swimsuit cosplay look, the shoot happened to take place at dusk, just as the rain was about to stop and the evening twilight was closing in. As for the wig, it was specially styled to create Mika's fluffy and layered pink texture; the little star and moon hair accessories on top of her head looked exceptionally delicate in the not-so-bright environment. The costume consists of a white semi-sheer tulle jacket paired with a light blue strappy bralette, along with cascading layers of a white short skirt hem. The angel wings on her back give the entire look a very breathable feel.
The weather on the shooting day wasn't great. The daytime light we originally agreed upon gradually dimmed away while we waited, and the sky turned into a deep blue hour tone. To simultaneously preserve the cool colors of the sea and the blue-and-white color scheme on the character, we used off-camera strobe lights to brighten her up as much as possible in the backlight. This naturally darkening seaside environment instead gave the costume a dreamlike atmosphere somewhere between anime and reality.
In terms of pose design, I tried standing positions holding a gradient inflatable swim ring, a barefoot sitting position, and an interactive pose stretching both hands forward. The gradient swim ring is printed with stars and waves, echoing the clear and agile elements on Mika while breaking the dullness of the nightfall. Although the sky darkened quickly, the narrowing of the light instead highlighted the softness and playfulness of the character herself. At this moment, the sea breeze was strong, blowing the skirt hem into the air, and the wings trembled slightly behind her. I hope these images captured at the dusk seaside can also convey Mika's unique innocence and the refreshing coolness of a summer beach through this piece of anime-style photography.
