This time, I chose a pure white studio to shoot the Blue Archive gymnastics uniform look of Misaki, with the overall concept of presenting a fresh and slightly composed atmosphere. The school-style characters of Blue Archive actually carry a special sense of intimacy after changing into sports attire.

I spent a lot of thought tidying up the wig this time; the structure of the double buns needed to be styled plump and balanced, not too large to make it look top-heavy. The two dangling long sideburn strands also required effort to adjust to a natural curvature, matching the light straight bangs to replicate that school style carrying a bit of lazy temperament. The silver hair accessory on top of the head is the soul of the entire look. Its positioning on the head required repeated locating to ensure that it neither appeared obtrusive due to angle issues nor failed to form a visual impact with the deep blue wig.

In terms of clothing coordination, this set of a white T-shirt with black athletic shorts is extremely basic, but the simpler the clothes, the more they test the tailoring. Especially the white tights, this material actually heavily tests the light control of studio shooting. If the lighting is not even enough, the white can easily generate unsightly dark shadows at the joints. Fortunately, the softbox in the white studio was large enough, and combined with the filtration of the diffuser screen, it provided a very smooth skin texture transition for the legs, beautifully expressing that lightweight sporty feel of the gymnastics uniform.

For shooting poses, we tried sitting postures from different angles. The first close-up half-body shot sitting on the chair mainly aimed to highlight the facial expressions and gaze. The action of gently propping my cheek with fingers could naturally showcase facial details and expression management; here, I intentionally restrained my gaze a bit, trying best to maintain that unique introverted composure of the character. The second full-body sitting pose is a composition I personally like very much, sitting slightly sideways on the edge of the wooden chair with both legs naturally extended forward. The white tights looked exceptionally clean against the white high-key backdrop, magnifying that slender sense of lines. Because the socks are white while the chair is a dark structure with a wooden top and metallic legs, this color-blocking contrast made the overall frame very breathable. The third shot was completely another atmosphere, sitting directly on the white floor, borrowing the classroom desk nearby as a support. This posture was relatively relaxed, with one hand propping on the floor and the other hanging down naturally, resembling a casual state during school recess, capturing a completely different everyday feel.

White background photography has its unique charm; as long as the background light is controlled soft enough, it can make the clothing details exceptionally clear while preventing the frame from looking cluttered. Because there are no messy items interfering in the backdrop, the viewer's attention naturally completely concentrates on the character's expression and body language. As the model, facing this pure white high-key environment, I instead needed to transmit the character's personality even more through the gaze and a slightly upturned corner of the mouth. These sets of actions look simple, but to truly balance center of gravity control with the aesthetic of body curves, it actually required repeated cooperation with the photographer to adjust postures and lens angles.

Many people might feel that a gymnastics uniform is not as eye-catching as those magnificent combat outfits or dresses, but I personally believe that the more basic and daily the attire, the more it can reflect a character's inherent aura. The characters in Blue Archive inherently carry many school life elements; putting on this gymnastics uniform feels as if the character stepped out of the game's live-2D illustration, merging into the real-world school scenes. The focus of this shoot was to enhance sunshine and the sense of movement. Though it was indoors, the high-key light texture tried its best to simulate outdoor daytime effects without using harsh shadows, leaving all edge contours relatively soft. The resulting photos, whether close-ups or full-body, appeared very gentle and enduringly appealing.

We shot quite a few frames for this final set, but these final selected ones are what I believe best capture Misaki's indifferent temperament. The cool environment of the white studio paired with this makeup and styling that carries a realistic school vibe forms a wonderful sense of contrast—possessing both that elegance and composure of the game character while conforming to the fresh cleanliness of everyday aesthetics. I hope this share also allows everyone to experience the unique charm of Blue Archive characters in daily scenarios through this anime cosplay project.
