I finally managed to shoot Bai Feng from Azur Lane, specifically in her special Bai Feng Little Yellow Duck Limited Edition look! Back when planning the shoot, I kept thinking about how to merge the elegant and composed grace of a Sakura Empire aircraft carrier with this round, chubby yellow plush toy—preserving her innate dignity while introducing a touch of playful daily life vibe.
When I first got the outfit, my immediate thought was that the fabric was super breathable and rich in layering. The black-and-white color contrast paired with long silver-white hair creates a crisp, neat visual profile. To avoid deviating from in-game settings, I took care with accessories: a black choker with a metal pendant on my neck and black-and-white striped bow hairpieces—all these details bring the overall look closer to Bai Feng's authentic character charm.
Regarding makeup, the focus was on eye contact selection. Bai Feng's eyes should be clear, luminous golden pupils. Putting on colored contacts along with subtle reddish blushing around the eyes gives her gaze a lively expressiveness rather than looking stiff. The most time-consuming part of styling was combing the wig—long silver-white hair tangles easily during transport and wearing, so great care was needed during shooting to maintain fluffy volume and layered texture.
To complement this outfit, the set design leaned heavily into Sakura Empire traditional aesthetics. A circular moon gate behind, paired with plum blossom branches, flying birds on the background, and translucent white drapes, instantly established spatial depth. I feel sheer drapes are crucial props in classical Anime cosplay; they not only soften the light but also add a hazy, ethereal quality to the frame that fits Bai Feng's serene demeanor.
Throughout the shoot, I made the most use of this black-and-white folding fan. When closed, holding it serves as a visual accent; when half-opened alongside gestures, it gives the composition a sense of graceful extension. Across several seated and kneeling poses in this set, I tried to capture Bai Feng's calm, composed posture. In particular, for the full-body shot holding the duck prop, I intentionally rested a foot on a low table to highlight the White thigh-highs outfit paired with sandals. This angle not only visually elongates leg lines but also positions the little yellow duck perfectly in the foreground as an interactive prop, making the whole composition's vibe much more engaging.
Honestly, when shooting characters like this, the biggest fear is awkward, unconvincing posing. So before the shoot, I practiced fan-holding gestures and eye focus points in front of the mirror repeatedly to ensure natural body language when the shutter clicked. Lighting-wise, the photographer used bright high-key lighting so the silver-white hair and white stockings radiated a soft glossy sheen, while the dark wood furniture in the background grounded the frame against looking washed out, achieving a harmonious balance between warm and cool elements.
Reviewing these compiled Bai Feng photos several times, I really feel we captured the gentle radiance characteristic of Azur Lane's Sakura Empire faction. From meticulous prop coordination to overall atmospheric control, this shoot felt deeply rewarding.
