For this Panty cosplay, I wanted to capture her as the cool, trendy girl strutting down the street just like P-Jie's iconic setting, so I aimed for a set of street photography that fully restores her personality. My partner, crossplaying as Brief, was incredibly dedicated, replicating details as closely as possible from the wig to the badges on the jacket. Especially that headset and the gray backpack—the way he followed behind carrying tons of bags really captured that vibe from the original series where he gets bossed around but still works silently.
We specifically picked areas around luxury stores as the backdrop. The lighting from the display windows was excellent, giving the shots a high-end texture. Actually, this red dress is very eye-catching when walking outdoors; with the drape of the skirt and the height of the high heels, it really required quite some control to walk in, but it was totally worth it to fit the character's confident and flamboyant vibe.
The biggest challenge during the shoot was the large number of passersby, requiring us to seize every split-second opportunity to snap photos from various angles. The shot where Brief peeks out from behind the glass door was an impromptu idea, but the expression and composition turned out surprisingly vivid, perfectly matching his character persona of always looking innocent yet slightly helpless. The final shot of us resting on a bench looks casual, but it was actually a posture we carefully adjusted.
A lot of thought went into preparing the entire costume, makeup, and props, especially the shoulder structure of that jacket. To make it look puffy but not bulky, we repeatedly adjusted the fabric and padding choices several times. Being able to bring out the characters' personalities and interactions in a real commercial street environment is the part I'm personally most satisfied with. Blending this daily style with hidden careful touches and the characters' own traits made the entire roleplay and shooting process incredibly fun. I hope to have more opportunities in the future to try out combinations of different scenes in this style, playing around with the characters in even more creative ways.
