[Helektra cosplay] Outdoor Photography for Honkai: Star Rail — The Feast Never Ends

As a cosplayer bringing Helektra from Honkai: Star Rail to life in this Roleplay endeavor, this Outdoor photography session was set in a city corner featuring gritty stone walls and vintage iron fences. Working alongside photographer Subing's camera capture, we completed this photo set spanning light and shadow across both daytime and nighttime hours. Fully aware of how vital the costume and props are for character portrayal, I poured 100% of my energy into restoring every subtle detail from early preparation to on-site shooting.

Let's first talk about this custom Cosplay outfit. Deep blue serves as the main tone of the dress, paired with irregularly spreading red string-like vein textures that carry a subtle pearlescent sheen under light refractions. The upper body's black pattern mesh stitching is executed perfectly—preserving the character's mysterious aura while remaining breathable so it doesn't get overly stuffy during extended outdoor shoots. The headpiece is one of the visual centerpieces of this look: the silver-white horned crown was carefully adjusted for balance when wearing, ensuring it stays firmly secured atop my head whether tilting up or down in various dynamic poses. Meanwhile, the long straight wig in a purple-red gradient with bright pink highlights at the tips transitions colors naturally; its silky hair strands flow gracefully when swept by breezes, echoing the color palette of the held prop beautifully.

Speaking of weaponry, this pink, white, and blue gradient long-blade prop was the strongest visual focus during the shoot. The guard section of the prop features hollowed-out motifs and spiked designs with considerable weight, requiring substantial arm strength to keep the blade tip steady in hand. During shooting, I utilized arm extension to create distance between the prop and the lens, aiming to evoke a stronger sense of intimidation and grandeur. To match the character's usual demeanor, I put extra thought into eye expressions—using subtle eyeliner and restrained facial cues to accentuate that unique cold detachment and aloofness amidst cool-toned attire.

The main difficulty of this Outdoor photography session was balancing two entirely different visual textures within the same location between day and night. Soft diffuse sunlight during the day clearly displayed metallic costume fasteners, leather-textured black gloves, and red-and-white tie ornaments, with the red veins on the skirt flowing with vivid vitality under natural light. When night fell, we set up strong front-side lighting in front of the iron gates. At this point, not only did the prop's gradient colors reflect brighter, but the red vein-like patterns on the dark dress also exuded dramatic magnificence and dangerous aura under stark contrast light, creating a completely distinct visual effect from daytime.

Choosing Outdoor photography always comes with curious glances from passersby and occasional cold gusts. The skirt of this Cosplay outfit is long—stepping on it or letting it ruffle messily in the wind happens easily if careless—yet that is precisely the charm of cosplay Roleplay. The moment I stand firm before the stone wall, grip the long blade, and adjust my posture, all surrounding distractions fade away, leaving only the visual expression to be rendered before the lens. I truly enjoy this process of immersing myself completely into character creation. Even if it's just freezing a single frame, all the tedious adjustments to poses, wig checks, and prop setups behind the scenes ultimately transform into that quiet, potent strength inside the final photos. Despite the tough shoot, seeing the final texture makes every effort completely worth it. May this dedicated attitude continue to bring pure joy to every character shoot.
