Today's shoot features a Touhou fanon interpretation of Patchouli. To complement the natural light of the outdoor setting, I chose this black-and-purple Gothic Lolita style dress. For the wig, I selected long straight hair in a soft muted lavender with a slight grayish undertone, trimmed with blunt bangs, and paired with bright blue contact lenses and delicate gold-rimmed round glasses. For makeup, I emphasized a translucent base paired with red lips and a slightly cool, understated eye look to ensure my facial features remained sharply defined under the strong outdoor sun.
The wardrobe details are exceptionally rich, centered on layered black lace and glossy purple fabric. The headdress features voluminous ruffles and pink bows, with a pale lavender rose adorning the chest and flared sleeves crafted from semi-sheer purple lace. While this heavily embellished outfit was quite stuffy and warm to wear outdoors, enduring it was essential for the complete look. For props, I prepared a white quill pen and a vintage-bound book. To inject a playful touch of contrast, I intentionally wore purple fluffy cartoon slippers; the collision of a sumptuous gown with casual house slippers gave the frames an extra layer of languid nonchalance.
The location was set in a lush outdoor garden. With abundant afternoon sunlight, the natural light cast beautiful highlights across the lace textures and wig strands. During the session, I explored various bodily poses: the first shot shows me seated on the sofa holding the feather quill; the second captures me reclining with legs raised while reading; and the third features a classic seated stance. That reclining posture on the sofa was especially demanding on core strength—to look effortless while keeping the angle between my gaze and the book natural, my lower back had to stay elevated while keeping my calves aligned. The photographer continuously shifted angles beside me, utilizing the dappled tree shadows to enrich frame depth. Under side-backlighting, the rim glow along my hair and garment edges turned out stunning.
Regarding color harmony, the dominant black paired with soft purple created a bold visual contrast, which integrated harmoniously with the verdant plants and gray outdoor sofa in the background for a fantastical yet cohesive palette. As a fanon creation, I didn't confine myself to fixed expressions, embodying a quiet, leisurely state alongside the book and quill. While dressing and smoothing out the headpiece ruffles and lace hem took considerable time, seeing how radiant everything looked under natural light on the camera display made every effort worthwhile. The overall atmosphere aligned perfectly with my initial concept, bringing this shoot to a successful close.
