[Iochi Mari Cosplay] Blue and White Gym Uniform: Freezing a Leisurely Moment in Midsummer

Sunlight streams over the blue outdoor bleachers. Dressed in the classic blue and white sportswear and holding a bottle of mineral water, I finally completed this gymnastics uniform cosplay shoot for Mari. To be honest, "working out is really exhausting" was my literal thought at the time. The outdoor light was intense, and while the photos turn out bright and sunny, during the shoot I was constantly adjusting positions and moving around between these blue seats to find the best angle. Combined with the heavy wig and hair accessories, I was drenched in sweat in no time. The wig in particular, though flowy in appearance, inevitably creates a stuffy heat when worn for a long time. However, to faithfully showcase the freshness and vitality of this blonde animal-eared girl, all the hard work felt completely worth it the moment the shutter clicked.

The gym uniform chosen today features a very clean and crisp color scheme. The loose jacket—white with blue and yellow accents—paired with dark blue athletic shorts, stays true to the character's original setting while fitting the hot summer season perfectly. The white over-the-knee socks are one of my favorite details; they visually elongate the leg line and, paired with classic black low-top canvas shoes, bring out a youthful yet effortless athletic vibe. As for props, I brought a bottle of plain water—not only to stay hydrated during the intense shoot, but also as a subtle iconic element that adds a touch of daily life, making me look like an ordinary high school girl taking a break mid-workout.

The photographer's framing was fantastic, opting for a lower camera angle that cleverly utilized the vertical depth of the bleacher steps, allowing the blurred trees and blue sky in the background to emphasize me in the foreground. Before the camera, I tried to maintain a lazy and relaxed posture—sitting with one knee hugged looking into the lens, or turning slightly on the edge of the stands—all aimed at fitting that post-workout mixture of exhaustion and tranquility. A character's eyes are always the soul of a cosplay; while I didn't forcibly imitate a specific emotion, I wanted the feeling conveyed through the lens to be genuine and unpretentious. That slightly breathless, softly dazed gaze after exercising truly rounds out the theme of this gymnastics uniform cosplay.

Speaking of "Iochi Mari" and "Blue Archive," although this shoot didn't feature a grand storyline background, the gym uniform concept naturally blends into the sunlit stadium setting. The interweaving of blue and white, coupled with the striking yellow-and-black geometric hair accessory, allowed me to feel the character's unique freshness and energy throughout the shoot. As someone passionate about cosplay, recreating a character is always a process of reflection and refinement. Everyday outfits like this are actually harder to master than grand armor because they require "effortlessness"—that subtle, natural everyday touch. Controlling small details—like slightly messy hair, a casually unzipped collar, or socks slightly creased from walking—prevents the photos from looking stiff.

After finishing the set, I sat on the bleachers resting for a long while, watching the empty blue seats and enjoying the gentle breeze. In that moment, all my exhaustion completely faded away.
