A red-and-black Maid outfit paired with signature devil horns gives this Chainsaw Man Power cosplay striking visual impact. To capture the character's unhinged and rebellious streak, I chose a long straight pink wig paired with orange-red contact lenses, giving my gaze an intense, penetrative edge. I was particularly meticulous with garment details: the black main body contrasted sharply against crisp white lace trims, while exaggerated flare bell sleeves and multi-layered skirt pleats enriched overall opulence. For headwear, a white ruffled lace maid mob cap flanked by black bows fused maid docility with demonic malice—a juxtaposition that became my favorite element of this set. Collaborating with photographer Cheng Qi, we extensively discussed lighting, ultimately settling on soft illumination with punchy contrast to accentuate the stained-glass hues while keeping the black fabric from crushing into flat shadows, preserving lace textures.
The set design required considerable effort. The backdrop featured an expansive stained-glass window backdrop that exuded a solemn, church-like aura. Red velvet fabric draped across tables and floors, strewn with an array of evocative props: skeletal skulls, a golden birdcage, flickering candles, and vintage wooden ornaments stacked together to forge a dark fantasy mood. The long-handled red scythe in my hands served as the soul prop of the entire shoot; its striking crimson blade caught the eye immediately, echoing the crimson drapery behind. To bring out its finest texture, I carefully adjusted my grip and angle to extend the scythe's diagonal lines across the frame.
While shooting, I explored varied stances to convey the character's multifaceted persona. At times I sat cross-legged on the floor, cradling a white skull with a frosty gaze locked onto the lens; at other moments I knelt upright, both hands gripping the red scythe as if poised to strike. To heighten physical tension, I designed expressive hand gestures—curling fingers into predatory claws or pressing an index finger against my lips in a 'hush' motion. These subtle touches made her personality far more three-dimensional. The combination of black Stockings and lace garter bands visually elongated leg proportions, perfectly aligning with the overarching Gothic style. Stepping into chunky black Mary Jane platform shoes, I slipped completely into that dark maiden state. Due to the elaborate garments and props, I had to constantly adjust my seated postures to ensure the skirt drape and leg contours remained immaculate while preserving compositional balance.
For makeup, I deepened the blending around the eye sockets for enhanced depth. Blush was swept higher on the cheek apples to partner with the orange-red contacts, crafting a yandere yet mischievous finish. The lips were kept in a natural nude tone to avoid competing with the focal intensity of the eyes. I gave the wig subtle waves so the pink locks fell naturally across both shoulders with slight tousled disarray, injecting casual nonchalance. For the dress, I specifically sourced fabrics with fluid weighted drape so deep folds would hold graceful arcs even during dynamic poses.
The entire shoot demanded non-stop stamina and posture recalibration: with so many set elements, lighting angles had to be meticulously dialed in to highlight both the stained glass and metallic textures. Holding strenuous poses was exhausting, but seeing the frames appear in the camera monitor—bathed in the raw impact of contrasting colors—made every bit of effort worthwhile. This set marks a passionate exploration of character interpretation, and I hope everyone can feel the singular allure of this dark Gothic style.
