Putting on this black and white uniform styling for the angel police officer immediately maximized the lens feel. The core of the overall styling lies in the clean color contrast and the smoothness of the lines. The white short crop shirt is paired with a black tie; the cross embroidery on the tie not only enriches the details against the solid color background but also adds to the recognizability of the styling. To achieve a better visual effect, the white twin-tails wig underwent fine thinning of its layers, and the wing props at the back of the head utilized lightweight materials, maintaining a crisp shape even during multiple turnarounds and posture adjustments.
During the shooting process, B-kun's control over light and shadow was highly precise, with the softbox's angle framing the clothing's silhouette just right. The pleats of the skirt hem and the metallic buckle of the white belt reflected perfect highlights under the intense light, which, paired with the metal handcuffs hanging around the waist, gave the overall styling a touch of toughness within the purity. The combination of white silk stockings and black Martin boots elongated the full-body proportions, and the tactical-style suspenders served as an excellent visual transition.
The assistant team patiently organized the fluttering wings during shooting gaps, ensuring that every single frame showed no revealing flaws. The pure gray background wall set off the prominence of the character subject exceptionally clearly, and allowed the light pink eyeshadow and clear base makeup, which were specially emphasized in the makeup, to be beautifully displayed.
Regarding the mobilization of poses, it was actually far more complex than imagined. It had to simultaneously showcase the details of props like the police badge and handcuffs, while taking into account the display of the leg lines and the exposed waist area; every shift of the center of gravity required considering the balance of the composition. Of course, we also tried our best to control the flowy feel of the twin-tails on both sides of the wig, capturing dynamic split-second moments through slight shaking; this combination of static and dynamic states is also a key point to master in a studio shoot.
From initially finalizing this combination to the formal start of the shoot, we prepared for nearly two weeks. The purchasing of the metallic emblem for the headpiece, the tie, and the handcuffs all had to be unified with the overall black and white undertone. To ensure that the white wings still maintained three-dimensional depth when turning sideways or spinning, the framework was also reinforced. During the shoot, I had to overcome the gravitational impact brought by the props' weight while maintaining a focused gaze and smile. The photographer suggested that I try different hand placements, such as single-hand on the hip or lightly clenching both fists; these different body languages, paired with the tough black pleated skirt and over-the-knee socks, could present a different visual impact.
For the post-processing, we mainly performed some basic color unification and skin detail retention, without doing excessive body reshaping, but rather trying to showcase the original tailoring and texture of the clothing through early lighting. Especially the contrast control of the frame—if the black and white color combination is not handled well, it can easily look flat, so rim lights were specially arranged at the side-backlight positions, which gave the edges of my hair strands and wings beautiful highlight outlines.
In the choice of lens focal length, a medium focal length was used to avoid character distortion, perfectly containing the full body and part of the background. The pure white circular platform on the floor also added a sense of ritual to the entire frame, as if standing on a certain display stage. The final finished photos completely achieved the expected clean and handsome effect. This simple yet not simplistic Anime cosplay studio experience is indeed a workflow highly worth recording for this Original Character look.
