Crossing a journey of 2,000 kilometers for this set of Firefly official photos, I truly experienced what it feels like to dive into the fire like a moth. It was raining continuously at the shooting site that day, with puddles and mud everywhere, but this unexpectedly added a wonderful reflective effect to the ground, giving the frame an extra layer of rainy-night ambiance. There were an overwhelming number of people on-site; to frame up with the huge SAM mecha background behind me, I squeezed my way through the crowd all the way, seized the right timing, and quickly pressed the shutter. Being able to successfully produce these few pictures was truly not easy, and every single one of them is extremely precious to me.

The SAM mecha in the background is genuinely staggering; with its huge glowing wings and intensely oppressive physique, standing in front of it brings that heavy sense belonging to a mecha warrior crashing right into your face. To form a contrast with this power-filled background, this time I cosplayed Firefly's daily casual styling wearing a JK uniform. A white long-sleeved sailor shirt, paired with a neckline featuring a light-blue-and-gold bow, and a grey-black plaid pleated skirt on the lower body. Of course, as the soul of this outfit, pure White stockings and black platform Mary Jane shoes are indispensable, presenting a youthful girlish feel while retaining a touch of exquisiteness. The wig was also specially selected in silver-white with a cyan-blue gradient, carefully pinned with the iconic feather hair accessory, and the makeup utilized red eyeshadow to highlight her clear yet somewhat melancholic gaze.

While conceiving the poses, I kept pondering Firefly's state of mind. When she acts as a warrior, she always has to pilot cold and heavy armor. Just like what is described in the post, being able to shed the armor like this, wear relaxed clothing, and quietly feel this world filled with mortal warmth and the slightly cool rainwater is something she never dared to dream of before. Therefore, I tried my best to showcase that light and relaxed state before the lens. Raising one leg slightly, posing dynamically with arms, or walking forward in small steps while holding the skirt hem, or extending a hand toward the camera, hoping to convey this hard-earned gentleness and tranquility.

However, actual shooting was nowhere near as calm as it appears in the pictures. Wearing a pleated skirt to strike various big movements in the rainy ground, I also had to constantly ensure the skirt hem's arc wouldn't fly too high, while trying hard to steady my center of gravity on the slippery ground in thick-soled leather shoes. My photographer @凶杜下山 and I repeatedly communicated angles and lighting; although having a watermark on the finished photos is a slight pity, I am already extremely satisfied with the overall composition, light and shadow, and the integration between the mechanical background and the portrait. Wonderful times always pass by so quickly; this shoot has successfully concluded, see you next time.
