It's getting cooler, and this set of Honkai: Star Rail Robin Qingge's summer swimsuit can finally be taken out and shared. To shoot this set of photos well, a lot of thought went into the makeup, styling, and props in the early stages. Let's talk about the wig first. To restore Robin's light purple-leaning-blue tone, I deliberately picked a gradient wig base, trimmed the wispy bangs myself, and added a slightly outward-turned curve at the edges, making it look lighter in the sunlight. Since it was shot outdoors, light-colored wigs easily look dry, so I sprayed a lot of smoothing spray before heading out.
In terms of makeup, the eye makeup used blue-purple eyeshadow for blending, paired with clear blue colored contact lenses. Highlighter was added to the inner corners of the eyes and aegyo-sal to make the gaze look brighter. The halo on top of the head was cut out from an acrylic board with gold tape pasted along the edges. To make it look natural outdoors, I also added a bit of transparent fishing line to fix it. The starfish hairpin and feather earrings in the hair are the soul of this styling, and the combination of blue and white gives a strong summer feel.
The clothing has numerous details; the top is a blue-and-white color-blocked style, and the straps and star patterns all needed to be adjusted to a perfect state before shooting. The circle of sunflowers and white flower decorations around the waist looks nice, but is actually quite heavy. To ensure they wouldn't fall off during large movements, I sewed hidden snaps on the inside and fixed them with many pins and fishing lines. The star stickers on the calves were applied temporarily to match the overall underwater starlit sky feel.
The prop microphone staff is custom-made, featuring white wings paired with a vintage microphone head, which has a lot of weight when held in hand. To showcase its three-dimensionality during the shoot, my arms had to remain suspended the whole time, and my arms were indeed a bit sore after shooting for half a day.
The outdoor location was chosen at an outdoor pool. Although the sunlight was abundant, when the reflector was hit, the light was very harsh. The photographer kept adjusting positions to find the right angle. Sitting by the poolside, the floor tiles were scorched hot by the sun, so I kept micro-adjusting my lower body posture, finally choosing a side-sitting, crossed-legs posture, which could showcase the leg lines while looking relatively relaxed in front of the lens. Shooting barefoot requires paying attention to pointing the insteps, which makes the legs visually look more slender.
During post-processing, the overall tone was adjusted towards a fresh and bright direction, increasing the blue saturation to make the pool water look clearer. The skin tone part suppressed the yellow tones, brightened the highlights, and retained the sunlit texture of a summer afternoon. In terms of composition, one picture was chosen for a full-body shot displaying the environment and overall styling, and another was a half-body close-up focusing on facial makeup and clothing texture. I hope this set of Robin's Qingge can bring everyone a touch of summer coolness.
