Bringing this black-and-white plaid armed girl concept to life took roughly three weeks of preparation from early ideation to the final white studio shoot. When the concept was first finalized, we aimed for a striking contrast combining delicate refinement with sharp visual impact. The garment itself follows a Gothic Lolita base pattern, but to match the witchy Halloween outfit theme, we introduced metallic crucifixes and a wide-brimmed witch hat. The top layers a black capelet over a white ruffled blouse, where the oversized plaid bow and crucifix at the waist act as the visual centerpiece. The lower half features a voluminous, tiered printed skirt hemmed with gold lace trims, creating rich dynamic dimension in motion.

Wearing this outfit was a genuine physical workout. The wig required curling for airy volume, with the blunt bangs and hime-cut side locks demanding generous styling spray to hold shape. Sitting down was severely constrained by the multi-layered skirt petticoats and structured corset. However, what demanded the most dedication was handling the props. The greatsword and sniper rifle highlighted in the post description were the core focus of this session. The greatsword carries substantial heft; holding it aloft with one hand tested my arm strength and required finding the precise balance point. The sniper rifle is quite long, requiring careful posture adjustments to ensure the stock placement and sight line through the scope looked organic on camera.

The shadowless white cyclorama illuminated every black-and-white contrast and lace texture with crystal clarity, which meant poses could not be lax or the composition would fall flat. To channel a Halloween outfit ambiance, the lighting setup and post-grading incorporated cool undertones to give the imagery a cinematic texture. Photographer @南烛🍫 and I exchanged many ideas regarding drawing reference poses. Carrying heavy weaponry meant standing upright would appear rigid, so we wove in half-kneeling, angled side stances, and leaned postures while fanning out the skirt's flounce to elevate dramatic tension.

This look definitely carries a rich Souls-like flavor, evoking the dark fantasy atmosphere of Elden Ring. The ancient weight of the greatsword and the sleek modernity of the sniper rifle created a wonderful chemical reaction atop this Lolita ensemble. To highlight this duality, we captured diverse perspectives—from full-body frames highlighting the billowing skirt and White stockings with black Mary Janes, to half-body close-ups emphasizing gaze and makeup. The makeup deepened eyeshadow and blush blending to craft an aloof, fragile aura, forming a poignant contrast against the cold steel in hand. Fine-tuning costume details and poses throughout the shoot was a constant process, and I hope this set offers creative inspiration for action and drawing reference!
