For this Chengdu BAO convention photoshoot, I cosplayed Plana from Blue Archive. Although I've portrayed many characters previously, Plana's quiet presence, tinged with a slight sense of detachment, has always captivated me. The venue chosen for this shoot was an interior setting featuring black wooden doors and floor-to-ceiling windows; the dark doorframe and white lace curtains created a wonderful contrast of light and shadow, fitting seamlessly with the cool-toned ambiance I aimed to convey. I wore a long, straight white wig topped with her signature red halo, and changed into the deep navy sailor suit. To faithfully recreate her character design, I made sure to wear the black choker, layered with a long black coat over the top, and paired it with a navy pleated skirt and Black stockings on the bottom.

In terms of props, the long black umbrella and the firearm prop bearing the 'AROMA' lettering were central to this shoot. Handling these props required extra care since fingerprints easily mark their surfaces, requiring frequent wiping with a soft microfiber cloth. For the first shot, I chose a pose leaning against the black wooden door: body angled slightly, both hands steadying the umbrella, and eyes meeting the camera naturally. This angle showcased the clean tailoring of the outfit while utilizing the architectural lines of the frame to elongate visual proportions. To achieve the desired look, I calibrated my shoulder angles to let the coat drape naturally, engaging my core to keep my spine straight. The second shot was taken before the window, reaching an arm toward the lens in a more interactive pose. Because it was backlit, I had to control facial direction, turning toward the light as much as possible so the gaze remained bright and clear, while straightening the arm to ensure folds in the black sleeve warmers didn't look sloppy. The key to this movement was opening up the neckline and shoulder lines, while relying on the pairing of Black stockings and the pleated skirt to create visual elongation.

Time was very tight during the convention shoot, and the floor was rather noisy. To ensure the garments stayed crisp and smooth, I kept a portable garment steamer on hand, touching up the hem and cuffs between pose adjustments. The wig tended to build static and frizz under indoor lights and ambient air, requiring frequent combing—especially during reaching or turning motions to prevent strands from catching on props or buttons. The makeup remained natural and translucent, accented with soft pink details around the eyes to echo the character's eye features, complemented by highlights to sculpt facial contours for indoor lighting conditions. Throughout the shoot, I continuously reviewed playbacks with the photographer, tweaking the halo's tilt and the umbrella's placement to ensure every frame captured Plana's signature quiet yet distant demeanor.

Wrapping up the entire set was physically tiring, but seeing the final selects made every bit of effort worthwhile. This shoot taught me a great deal about handling indoor lighting and coordinating with props, which will be immensely helpful for portraying diverse character styles in the future.
