Ever since the concept art was revealed for Privaty's maid outfit in Goddess of Victory: Nikke, I decided I had to cosplay it at least once. This time, I specifically chose vintage Gothic-style lace elements, combining a primary black color palette with white ruffles to faithfully recreate this classic look.
Regarding outfit details, what attracted me most was the white lace gloves on the upper body and the black-with-white-trim collar design. To achieve a gorgeous texture, I customized lace fabric featuring delicate hemmed borders and dark woven patterns, while setting the pleats along the apron edges to hold their shape. The patch printed with \"PRIVATY\" at the waist is the visual focal point of the entire costume, making it distinct from ordinary plain white maid outfits with a much stronger identity.
For the lower half, I opted for white over-the-knee socks, which visually elongated my leg proportions while neutralizing the heavy feel of the black skirt. During the shoot, I intentionally lifted the skirt hem slightly, keeping the cute charm of the maid outfit while showcasing sleek leg lines. White over-the-knee socks of this material and thickness also showed great tactile texture under lighting.
For the hair, I chose airy cyan long hair. To prevent strands from looking artificially stiff or overly shiny, I thinned and lightly curled it to create natural volume. Combined with light-colored contact lenses and makeup that emphasized eyeliner and rosy lips, I strived to capture the character's majestic, authoritative demeanor associated with \"Maid Supremacy.\"
On the day of the shoot, I held a brown round tray as a prop. Using the tray actually tested my arm control quite a bit, because it carries a bit of weight, yet I had to maintain an elegant curve between my upper arms and body while looking calm and composed. I rested my upper arms slightly against my sides for leverage, which stabilized the posture and naturally showcased the layered details of the collar.
The backdrop featured a white carved geometric pattern frame backed by stained glass. Natural light passing through the glass cast a soft glow on the cyan wig, while colorful light patterns from the window served as lovely accents in the frame. During the shoot, the photographer emphasized straightening my back and giving a more proud, aloof gaze; after a few tries, I hit that state of being slightly provocative yet effortlessly elegant.
Actually, every casual cosplay feels like a brief conversation with the character. Although this character in Goddess of Victory: Nikke is dressed as a maid, she is very strong-willed at heart. Through this photo display, I truly enjoyed drawing closer to her core through costume, hair & makeup, and body language. The vintage setting and natural lighting coordinated perfectly, and the depth of the entire look under light and shadow allowed me to see more real-world possibilities for this outfit. It was a very solid shooting experience.
