The theme for this shoot was a lifestyle-focused Casual cosplay centered on a catgirl's daily life. In choosing props and styling, I wanted to maintain a fresh, soft overall ambiance. For the setting, we chose the open space right outside the convention hall, shooting with natural light to capture the most authentic interplay of light and shadow.
For clothing, I picked a pure white, oversized T-shirt featuring simple black letters and graphic prints across the chest. The white base is highly versatile, beautifully highlighting the visual contrast of blonde hair and blue eyes. For the bottom, I paired white shorts with lace trim details and a classic White thigh-highs outfit. This predominant white palette looks bright and clear in outdoor summer light while drastically softening any artificial feel of anime attire, allowing it to seamlessly blend into everyday life.
The highlight of this look is undeniably the fluffy elements. The light blonde wig features thick straight bangs with face-framing sides, perfectly suiting a feline character's soft facial contours. Both the ears fitting a Kemonomimi girl and the long tail were made from high-quality light golden faux rabbit fur matching the hair color, especially the large tail with built-in bendable wire that allowed me to adjust its curve for photos. Around my neck, I wore a red leather choker adorned with a golden bell—a classic, highly recognizable element that added a vibrant accent to the pure white ensemble.
The huge white plush paws were the core interactive element during the shoot. In preparation, I specifically practiced several holding poses, including fully extended, semi-closed, and pouncing paws. Wearing such bulky paws can easily make arms look stiff, but during actual shooting, gently shifting shoulders and slightly bending elbows softens arm lines nicely. A crucial part of the shoot was interacting with a cardboard box; the box printed with small black fish patterns made a thematic prop. Crawling inside to peek out or resting my paws over the edge naturally brought out a kitten's unique curiosity and laziness.
Regarding makeup and styling, the goal was a youthful and clear look. I chose light blue contact lenses to enhance eye clarity, keeping eye makeup free of heavy dark tones and instead emphasizing aegyo sal paired with matte light pink and pale orange shadows to brighten eye contours. Blush was focused across the center of the face and under the eyes, paired with a sheer glossy lip glaze to evoke a gentle, harmless, and softly lazy feline persona. Complemented by the photographer's camera positioning—utilizing ample backlighting and side-backlighting—a soft halo formed along the edges of the fur, giving the image a bright, translucent high-key feel. This has become my favorite style for Convention photography recently.
For pose capture, we tried various sitting and crouching postures, deliberately extending legs sideways or curling up to highlight the lines of the White thigh-highs outfit. Throughout the session, we avoided forced or overly complex poses, aiming instead to recreate a cat's relaxed body language—stretching, rolling around, or pouncing at targets. The brown teddy bear served as a cozy secondary prop, adding warmth and homeliness to the scene. The shooting process was very relaxed, and this final set filled with sunshine and fluffy textures serves as a satisfying record of styling and venue choices.
