From wardrobe fitting to final image curation, this Sunna Swimsuit cosplay shoot ran on an intensive production timeline. The pale green wig was styled into a flippy, curled short cut; to preserve its buoyant volume even when exposed to water splashes, I applied generous amounts of industrial styling wax and hairspray. The makeup centered entirely around the eyes—vivid blue contacts paired with warm orange-red eyeshadow and prominent blush ensured my complexion popped radiantly before the lens. Topping the wig with plush white beast ears and two whimsical hairclips—one shaped like a cat paw and the other a pastel pink bow—elevated the playful, charming persona.
The pink one-piece swimsuit featured adorable cartoon graphics, hugging the torso comfortably without feeling heavy once submerged. To harmonize with the aquatic environment, we brought a translucent blue-violet swim ring along with several waterproof props. Strong midday sun created intense caustic reflections across the water, posing notable lighting hurdles. To achieve soft, balanced facial exposure, I positioned myself angled or back-facing the harsh sun while bouncing frontal fill light. Moving inside water is considerably more strenuous than dry ground; holding an erect torso with relaxed facial expressions required active core stabilization. Seated upon the swim ring, I naturally crossed my legs with softly pointed toes to elongate leg contours cleanly on camera. Standing near the pool ladder, resting one hand on the stainless steel rail while holding props in the other showcased both the swimwear's cut and bodily silhouette.
Hair and makeup quickly deteriorate upon contact with water, making physical stamina and constant touch-ups paramount. After each water take, we verified that wig strands were tangle-free, accessories secure, and eye makeup pristine. Keeping eyes wide open and focused under direct sun while wearing contacts took real discipline, yet seeing the luminous ripples on camera made every moment worthwhile. In post-processing, we preserved the clean azure tones of the aquatic environment, heightened caustic surface specular glints, and refined skin texture smoothly. Keeping the palette predominantly cool-toned allowed the pink suit and mint-green hair to pop with vibrant contrast.
To complement the summer theme, we staged the shoot at an outdoor open-air pool known for crystalline water and cinematic tiles. The unique water environment required frequent towel-drying between takes to avoid chills. Bystanders were remarkably courteous, enabling a seamless workflow. Blending the kinetic flow of rippling water with the stillness of character portraiture captured the exact aesthetic I envisioned.
