Shooting Chisa from Wuthering Waves this time required a lot of effort from preparation to the final photos. The most striking aspects of the look are those red eyes and the dark-toned sailor suit, so today I'm sharing my shooting experience with this photoshoot.
First, regarding makeup: to recreate Chisa's cool and slightly mysterious temperament, I intentionally enhanced the red eyeshadow shading, which, combined with red contact lenses, made the gaze look sharper. The wig is long, straight black hair with straight-cut bangs, very smooth in texture. The red ribbons on both sides are the finishing touch—they took a long time to secure with small clips to maintain their curves, and swinging slightly during photos added great dynamic motion.
For the costume, this sailor suit is a modified design. The navy blue fabric is firm and structured, with white borders and red lines at the collar outlining a classic silhouette, yet far from an ordinary student uniform. The most special part is the red neck scarf across the chest, which features high color saturation that creates a strong visual contrast against the dark jacket. The black choker around the neck is an iconic element of the character; the silver metal square badge in the middle has a solid, crisp texture, instantly elevating the entire aura once put on. The jacket sleeves are relatively loose, featuring tie-strap designs at the cuffs that create sleek lines when tightened. Coupled with the black leather belt with a silver buckle at the waist, it offers a great waist-cinching effect.
The lower half features a pleated mini skirt paired with black over-the-knee socks. The material of the socks is a semi-sheer matte black, which flatters leg shapes without feeling overly heavy. During the shoot, the photographer suggested sitting on the rug or extending my legs, as the leg lines in this outfit are quite expressive. Wearing black over-the-knee socks, whether paired with leather shoes or stepping barefoot on the plush rug, yielded fantastic visual results.
The shooting venue was an European-style indoor studio. The carved white armchair and deep blue carpet in the background happened to echo the character's dark academy style. To highlight the subject, we used soft side-backlighting, adding a rim glow along the edges of the hair while keeping facial shadows natural, allowing the brightness of the red eyes and the vibrancy of the red neck scarf to shine through.
During shooting, I also tried different angles. For instance, leaning slightly forward while seated with a hand resting near the choker showcased the character's cool detachment, while a semi-reclining posture with legs extended placed focus on the leg and footwear extension, conveying a touch of lazy elegance. I also brought a retro brown briefcase as a prop, placing it nearby to add narrative depth, making me look like a covert operative resting after completing a mission.
There are actually many details in this outfit, such as the stitching inside the jacket, the pleats on the skirt, and the clasp of the choker. This attention to detail on small items results in a noticeably higher quality in the final shots. Especially the fit of the over-the-knee socks at the knees, which tend to slip down after wearing for a while; I adjusted them several times before shooting to ensure every frame in front of the lens remained smooth and flat.
Overall, the character Chisa has a quiet exterior filled with inner tension. Representing her through cool-toned lighting and relaxed seated poses perfectly conveys her unique vibe. This shoot gave me more insights into dark style campus cosplay looks: whether it's the symmetry of hair ornaments or the tightness of the neck scarf knot, paying extra attention to details makes the final photos stand up to close inspection.
