Taking these convention photos of Denia amidst the noisy lighting and shadows of the anime convention was actually quite challenging. With heavy crowds and complex lighting, avoiding background passersby to capture a clean shot places high demands on both positioning and the photographer. Special thanks to @L同学不好好努力 for helping with the candid snapshots; the efficiency in producing photos was fantastic.
Regarding the outfit, this white main dress reflects beautifully under the convention's cool lighting. The black lace stitching on the chest and the metal neck ornament prevent the overall styling from looking plain. The brown plush trim on the sleeves creates a striking tonal contrast with the vivid red gloves, looking even more saturated in person. The wig is a light pastel white with a touch of pink; paired with the ahoge on top, animal ear ornaments on the sides, and black ribbon bows, it carries very high visual recognition.
The prop staff was heavier than expected, especially the top structure featuring a translucent purple sphere and a silver crescent moon. While shooting, I had to either rest it against my shoulder or prop it on the ground with one hand to maintain balance. The two seated poses in the photos were actually taken to give my arms a brief rest. The pink ribbons and cloth strips on the staff float dynamically while walking, though unfortunately it's hard to capture that fully in still photography.
Actually, for a look with ornate accessories and high heels, the biggest test isn't posing, but standing all day. Although the black platform lace-up shoes on my feet offer great height-boosting proportions for photos, the hard floor of the hall makes your soles very tired after standing for a long time. So I tried my best to find a stool to rest on during breaks, and the captured shots happened to record this relaxed yet natural state.
The makeup colors were intentionally adjusted to be softer on eyelashes and eyeshadow with light base makeup, aiming to embody the character's nimble and cool, elegant feel. Having done Cosplay for so many years, I increasingly feel that clean makeup matters more than complexity. Combined with the shade of contact lenses, it creates clear visual depth separating me from the background crowd under the camera flash.
In addition, when doing Cosplay photography of a magician-style character at indoor anime conventions, those spot lights on the ceiling can actually serve as ambient creators. Although the background of the photos contains large dark areas, those scattered ceiling lights add a sense of depth. The reflection from the white floor also softened lower-body shadows, preventing the legs from looking dark in the frame.
The blue metallic finish at the tip of the prop was done well, maintaining high Character accuracy in terms of color. However, if I cosplay this outfit again next time, I might consider slightly adjusting the length proportions of the staff so it can point toward the camera more easily in standing or seated poses. Overall, this anime convention experience was very delightful. Wearing a character costume prepared with care and sharing the atmosphere with fellow fans is an essential part of the passion itself.
When organizing the photos, I noticed that the four shots covered seated, standing, single-leg standing, and casually holding the staff horizontally. Even with fixed styling, different body poses can bring a slightly different visual experience to viewers. That's what makes convention photos so interesting.
There were actually many other Cosplayers behind me on site, everyone cooperating to yield space in a lively atmosphere. Photographer @L同学不好好努力 excelled at finding angles, especially that seated photo with the staff held horizontally in front, perfectly presenting both body proportions and shoe details.
Regarding this look, the only regret was not finding a suitable corner for sunset or low-light special effects on location to get even closer to the character's innate texture. Of course, the advantage of conventions lies in gathering feedback from fellow fans, which serves as my motivation to keep updating.
