[Hsin cosplay] Wuthering Waves Phantasm: The Languid Hours of the Scarlet Maple and White Fox

Today I'm bringing you this finished cosplay photo set of Hsin from Wuthering Waves. I handled both the set design and the photography myself, choosing the white studio at Biqi Imaging as the venue. Building this illusionary realm of scarlet maples and candlelight completely from scratch required substantial pre-production effort. Hsin's attire is visually arresting: the classic palette of red, black, and gold, layered with expansive sheer gossamer and plush trims, grants the silhouette both structural heft and weightless fluidity. For the wig, I styled long white hair with black streaks; the pair of fluffy Animal ears atop my head, adorned with golden branch ornaments, was pivotal in capturing her mystical temperament.

To keep the white studio from looking monotonous, I invested extensive thought into the background arrangement. A red maple tree paired with a wooden standing lantern anchored the left, artificial rockeries accented the right, and a traditional Chinese folding screen served as a central partition, crafting dimensional depth within the limited studio space. The floor was laid with reflective material to simulate ripples on water, while scattered electric tea lights offered warm practical glows under low light. During the shoot, edge backlighting carved out the fine wisps of hair and fuzzy ear trims, giving the compositions a radiant, translucent breath.

For makeup, the focus was firmly on the eye contours, deepening the reddish eyeshadow blend to match the crimson forehead mark and red nails, evoking an eerie yet icy, otherworldly aura. The costume's embellishments are intricate; metallic ornaments on the chest and waist caught the lights with shifting specular glares, requiring constant vigilance to adjust alignment and prevent wardrobe malfunctions. The lower half of the attire reveals Beautiful legs, adding sensual allure that resonates with the character's untamed, nonchalant ease. For posing, I relied heavily on seated and reclining postures—especially dipping bare feet over the water feature, which proved an intense test of core balance. Shooting self-portraits meant constantly dashing back and forth to verify focus, framing, and skirt drape; exhausting as it was, seeing the finished frames made every ounce of effort worthwhile.

The magic of studio photography lies in the absolute control over every element, yet the challenge is crafting natural, realistic lighting entirely with artificial fixtures. The stark red-and-black contrast under warm amber illumination yielded rich textures, while the shimmering water reflections enriched the frame's layered depths. From building the set to the final deliverables, every step of this Ancient style cosplay journey was hands-on exploration, and I hope this atmospheric set fully conveys that vision.
