This set of Wuthering Waves Hsin cosplay costume has put a lot of thought into the presentation of details. From the costume texture to prop creation, and then to the studio action design, every step strives for a balance between accuracy and visual impact. In terms of clothing, this outfit features extremely rich layering. The classic color scheme of black, red, white, and gold, paired with golden embroidery, gives the overall look a great texture. The outermost layer is paired with red-and-white sheer gauze, which requires attention to the stacking and flowing direction of the gauze during the shoot. To make the skirt hem and sleeves look lightweight in the frame, we used a studio fan combined with hand gestures to capture that fluttering, dynamic feel blown by the wind. The metallic hanging ornaments at the waist and the gemstone embellishments on the chest refract a wonderful luster under the lighting, adding a lot of gorgeousness.
Animal ears and tails are definitely the soul of this styling. To capture that fluffy, voluminous feel, the props were chosen with gradient grayish-white long fur material. That big tail looks domineering, but actually, it has a skeleton frame inside. Combined with the gold ornaments on the ears, the weight cannot be underestimated; wearing it requires tightly binding the waist to stably support it. The silver-white long wig with black highlights requires controlling the amplitude when turning and shaking the head to ensure the hair strands don't look messy in front of the lens.
Regarding shooting poses, considering the fox character's laziness and enchanting attributes, I chose a dark Chinese-style wooden circle chair as the main prop. Sitting postures mostly featured crossed legs, which not only showcases the costume's high-slit design but also elongates the visual proportion of the legs. Accompanied by golden high heels with the instep straightened, the sense of line becomes even more pronounced. Hand gestures either gently caress the animal ears or rest on the crossed legs, with the head tilted slightly, and the gaze needs to carry a condescending yet somewhat provocative meaning. Standing postures made more use of the drape of the sheer gauze and arm extension, presenting that fox-like demonic vibe and agility through body language. To showcase body curves, I intentionally kept my waist and back straight while sitting, tightening my core to make the upper body's tailoring fit the body shape, while utilizing light and shadow to outline the lines of the shoulders and collarbones.
The studio scene chose a pure orange-red background, paired with red maple trees and a black screen, creating a warm autumn atmosphere. In terms of lighting, the main light source used a softbox to illuminate the face and body, while rim lighting was used to outline the contours of the fur and sheer gauze, making the subject pop out from the warm-toned background and increasing dimensionality. For the legs, the lighting angle was deliberately adjusted to make the skin tone look fairer and more translucent. To fit the character, the eye makeup intensified the blending at the outer corners of the eyes and used red eyeshadow to bring out the fox's coquettish charm. The base makeup pursued a translucent look, complemented by contouring to increase facial dimensionality. The position of the tail needed to coordinate with the body's center of gravity, utilizing inertia to swing naturally when turning or sitting down to make it more vibrant. The transparent straps and metallic decoration design of the shoes are very clever, neither overly fragmenting the leg lines nor sparkling when walking. The sheer gauze is prone to snagging, so an assistant constantly needed to help tidy it up during the shoot. The synergy with the photography teacher this time was very tacit; everyone continuously fine-tuned actions based on playback on the screen, ultimately resulting in this set of photos with decent texture.
