Chisa's swimsuit is truly perfect for summer. To perfectly recreate that youthful vibe of going to the beach with a senior, this time we directly built an indoor beach studio. I've always felt that Chisa's character design is very lively, especially this swimsuit; the pink-and-white plaid combination has both a girl's sweetness and a hint of lively sexiness. During the costume preparation stage, I paid special attention to the selection of materials. To avoid excessive reflection under the lights, we compared several fabrics. The size of the sailor hat was also adjusted twice, striving to make it sit securely on the wig while maintaining that cute curve. For the red-and-white polka-dot bow in front of the chest, we added shaping wire inside so that no matter how much I moved, it maintained a three-dimensional shape. The independent sleeve covers on the wrists and the red decorative flowers also needed to be pinned just right—neither leaving marks nor slipping off.
In terms of makeup, the eye makeup is the core of the 2D feel. In addition to the regular red colored contacts, I used pink and red eyeshadows of different shades layered at the outer corners of the eyes to create a naturally flushed, innocent look. The wig was also carefully trimmed; to flatter face shape, the sideburns retained a certain length and layering. To highlight that dewy feel, a glossy lip glaze was used for the lips. On the day of the shoot, the sand and scenery in the studio were very realistic, and to create a natural sunlight feel, the lighting technician used a softbox to simulate seaside sunlight.
Posing on the sand is actually a small challenge, especially the posture of sitting on a transparent swim ring. To make the body lines look good, my waist needed to constantly exert hidden force. When holding the ice cream cup, to achieve that casual yet cute feeling, I also had to adjust the angle of my wrist. During the shoot, we played a bit of white noise of ocean waves nearby to help me get into character faster, imagining that I was truly spending a summer time with my senior. The red beach chair and blue swim ring added great color contrast to the picture. Looking through the entire set of photos, it's not just a restoration of the costume, but also an interpretation of Chisa's vibrant state of mind longing for companionship. This shoot was not only a test of poses and expressions, but also a test of the team's tacit understanding. From lighting layout to prop placement, every little detail aimed to present the best effect. I hope this summer gift can be conveyed to everyone.
