This look portrays Cartethyia from Wuthering Waves (Cartethyia Cosplay), and the complexity of the headpiece and props exceeded expectations. The unicorn horn on the crown and surrounding blue ice crystal decorations are delicate accessories; wearing them required glue and invisible hair nets to adjust the angle, ensuring they stayed firmly in place throughout a lengthy shoot. The elf ear props adhered tightly, but the seams between the ear edges and the wig were prone to showing on camera, demanding careful attention to profile angles during shooting. The wig features a long gradient shifting from golden blonde to ice blue—long hair like this tangles easily and requires patience to comb out while keeping the ends from looking overly stiff.
The main costume consists of a black bodysuit paired with long white-to-blue gradient ribbons, complemented on the lower half by a royal blue train skirt. In White studio photography, the tiered layers of the ribbons are immediately apparent; to achieve a naturally flowing drape, their positions had to be readjusted repeatedly. The gold embroidery on the chest and waist, along with golden chain accents across the thighs, are crucial details elevating the overall texture. Because the outfit is form-fitting, pairing it with clear crystal high heels and blue ankle straps visually elongated the leg lines.
The hardest element to handle was the ice-blue longsword. The translucent blade carried sharp, crystalline refractions. While the black branch-like hilt looked striking, it easily snagged on the skirt hem and sleeve tassels. The sword had noticeable weight, exerting heavy wrist strain when holding poses; to keep hand lines sleek and graceful, I took numerous breaks between sets. The second photo utilized a white circular riser to add elevation, creating a more elongated leg silhouette while cleanly avoiding messy floor wrinkles in the skirt train.
Lighting control in the white studio was critical—without background depth, we relied on strong cool-toned key lights paired with bottom bounce reflectors to eliminate harsh shadows, sharpening the textural contrast between the white gradient fabric and the black base layer. To recreate the character's crisp, incisive edge, facial contours were kept clean, and eye makeup was kept light, allowing the contact lenses to bring out the glint in the eyes. While the shooting process was more demanding than expected, the resulting cool-toned aesthetic is clean, luminous, and crystal-clear—a truly unique interpretation in this Cosplay photoshoot.
