The plan to shoot this Anon and Soyo duo Yukata set was decided a long time ago. Right in time for the hot July, the outdoor location was chosen at a waterfront area with a shoreline and a red-and-white lighthouse. The biggest fear when shooting outdoors is that the high temperature will cause makeup to melt or the wig to get frizzy, so I intentionally kept the base makeup in a matte state. After applying sunscreen, I did targeted baking on specific areas, ensuring it wouldn't reflect light under the intense noon sun. The wig treatment this time took a lot of effort; the hair color closely matched the texture of the orange-pink and cherry-pink from the original setting. While ensuring high accuracy, the trimming of the bangs and sideburns also preserved a daily fluffy feel without looking too stiff, allowing for a natural flow of hair strands when the wind blew during the shoot.

In terms of costumes, the color scheme of the duo Yukatas not only needed to fit the characters' own temperaments but also consider the color balance of the overall frame. We communicated in advance about the pattern coordination of the Yukatas; one chose a bright and elegant sunflower design on a white base, while the other used a soft and clear blurred pink floral print. Paired together, they carry both the vitality of a summer festival and highlight that intimate, seamless atmosphere between the characters. The tying method of the waist sash (obi) was also carefully evaluated; the layered pairing could both frame the waistline and avoid looking bulky. To increase professionalism, we prepared various small props suitable for a summer festival, not only classic woven bamboo fans and candied apples but also specially brought along a pair of compact chibi plush dolls and transparently packaged sodas. These small objects stand out brilliantly in close-up shots and provide a natural extension for the interaction between the two.

During the shoot, we tried our best to make the movements less contrived, such as the subtle expressions of looking down at the dolls together or the gaze toward the lens while holding the fans and candied apples. Wanting the atmosphere to feel relaxed and everyday, the photographer focused on capturing candid moments of natural head-tilts, eye contact, and standing side-by-side. Against the background of the lighthouse and blue sky with white clouds, the texture of the Yukata coupled with a light sea breeze made the light and shadow in the photos exceptionally translucent. The post-processing did not overdo the skin smoothing either, preserving the texture of the skin and the original fabric feel of the costume. I believe that a good cosplay work is not just a simple replication of a character's appearance, but more importantly, it transmits the character's emotions and sense of story in that specific scene through the integration of expressions, body language, and the environment. I hope this group of photos can present that clear, bright, and slightly lazy aura amidst the scorching summer heat to those who see it, serving as a positive validation of our early preparation and on-site performance.
