This set of Jade Dynasty Lu Xueqi's costume took nearly a month of adjustments from pattern making to final presentation. The main body of the costume is pure white, and the fabric was specially chosen with a subtle shimmering texture to have an ethereal fairy vibe in front of the lens while avoiding looking cheap. The silver armor pieces and blue gemstone details at the waist took the most effort, requiring layer-by-layer pasting and fixing to achieve a three-dimensional effect. The wig was also a major difficulty; it had to ensure the fluffiness of the high ponytail while keeping the loose strands on both sides looking natural, avoiding looking like wearing a stiff piece of plastic. The teardrop mark on the forehead didn't use traditional stickers, but was slowly drawn using sequins and styling gel, so that it would have a slight reflection under the convention's light. This time going to the Chiyuanyuan Anime Convention, the venue was huge and the lighting that day was quite good. Holding the prop glowing long sword, which is close to 1.5 meters long, the weight is actually fine, the main thing is how to hold it to look good and imposing. I didn't deliberately strike particularly pretentious poses, but tried my best to get close to the character's aloof yet stubborn feeling. When shooting this set of photos, I specially added a sense of exertion to the actions, such as the look in my eyes when holding the sword horizontally in front of me, and the body's center of gravity when lifting the sword with one hand. There were many photographers and fellow enthusiasts at the convention, and everyone gave a lot of feedback during communication, such as how certain angles of light and shadow make the clothing texture clearer. To fit the Xianxia charm of the Secret of Longevity, I also specifically studied how the accessories on the clothes sway with movements. Although my feet were a bit sore from wearing the dress for an afternoon, seeing the effect of the final photos made all this hard work worthwhile. The ribbons of the costume would rise with the wind during movement, and the captured effect is very natural. Compared to static poses, I prefer these moments with a sense of dynamic flow. This set of photos is not only a tribute to the character, but also an attempt by myself in costumes, props, makeup, and physical performance. To prepare for this styling, I also specially studied the color matching proportions in the original artwork, and referred to the details of the original design during production, ensuring that the position of every piece of fabric and metal part doesn't deviate. At the convention site, many passersby recognized this styling, and sharing this love for the work with everyone is the biggest joy of cosplaying. Although it took a long time during retouching to handle the light flares in the background and the light effects on the sword, seeing the final presented atmosphere made everything feel complete.
