[Fugue Cosplay] Honkai: Star Rail Tingyun Photoshoot Log

The focus of this Honkai: Star Rail Fugue / Tingyun photoshoot (Fugue Cosplay, Tingyun cosplay) was to blend the character's classical elegance with her lively spirit in a Traditional style cosplay setting. For makeup, emerald green contact lenses served as the visual centerpiece, with eyeliner swept outward to enhance the fox-like eye shape, while reddish-brown eyeshadow echoed the tips of the hair. The wig was pre-styled, using plenty of setting spray to ensure the side bangs maintained a natural curve. The white beast ears on top were custom-made (Kemonomimi cosplay), featuring golden inner tips firmly anchored with U-pins, which helped contour the face for a more delicate look. The costume collar features a structured red-and-gold fabric, adorned with pearl frog closures and white petal details on the chest; the golden maple leaf tattoo on the chest had to be applied holding my breath to prevent any wrinkles.

The shooting set was decorated with traditional paper lanterns and calligraphic backdrops, illuminated by soft, warm lighting. When I raised my hand to brush through my hair, the photographer constantly reminded me to mind my wrist angle, as the contrast between the red nail polish and green contact lenses was striking under warm light, and a slight tilt added rich visual depth. To capture the character's playful yet perceptive aura, I put thought into facial expression control—deliberately avoiding an open smile, keeping the corners of my mouth slightly upturned, and letting my gaze drift just off-camera. The session lasted over an hour, with the skirt hem and collar readjusted for every pose. We had a small hiccup mid-shoot when a contact lens shifted, requiring me to remove, clean, and reinsert it. To keep the headpieces secure, I maintained a slightly raised head posture throughout. Feeling the slight pull of the fabric during movements only deepened my connection to her uninhibited demeanor.

To capture the solo cover shot, I sat on a low stool with relaxed shoulders, letting the warm background backlight create a dreamy halo. This shoot was quite challenging, but adjusting repeatedly to the lens helped me find more fitting ways of expression. The costume is very form-fitting, requiring constant attention to posture to keep my back straight. Though tiring, seeing the expressions and poses in the final photos made me feel that this portrayal of Honkai: Star Rail's Fugue / Tingyun was grounded and genuine. Fugue's storyline carries a sense of dramatic transformation, so rather than standing stiffly, I wanted the images to convey an aura of 'looking tranquil now, yet harboring a profound story.' Lightly caressing my cheek under subtle rim lighting beautifully contoured my face and made the reddish-brown hair tips pop. To preserve this state, I refrained from sitting down during breaks, leaning against a wooden pillar instead. Between poses, the photographer readjusted my position so the ink calligraphy and cherry blossom branches softly blurred along the frame's edges, enriching the traditional atmosphere. These are my reflections on this project—a heartfelt endeavor in costume, makeup, and atmosphere.
