When I first received this Ji Ruxue costume, my most immediate impression was how clean and crisp the color palette was. The top features deep blue as the primary tone, layered over a white sleeveless inner lining. Light blue ribbons intertwine around the neck at the collar, while a green gemstone pendant hangs across the chest, giving the overall design rich dimension. The silver metallic accents on the shoulders and waist possess solid, substantial texture rather than feeling like flimsy plastic. The belt combines red, blue, and black color-blocking, with red cords wrapping around the dark blue vambraces, creating powerful visual impact. The right arm is styled with a long black leather glove, while the left arm features a blue armguard accented with red cords—this asymmetrical design instantly brings out the heroic swordsman aura of the character.

To recreate the character's hairstyle, I wore a deep brown high-ponytail wig with rich volume, creating a full, graceful curve at the back of the head when tied up. The bun atop the head is embellished with teal bead strings, echoing the light blue at the neckline and the red at the waist. The woven bamboo conical hat in my hand was a crucial prop for this Traditional style cosplay shoot, carefully bound around the rim with yellow edging, with a matching hairpin inserted at the crown. During the shoot, I explored varied movements to interact with these props, striving to infuse the frame with an authentic martial arts atmosphere.

Before shooting this set, the photographer and I spent significant time in the studio discussing the lighting setup. Because the costume's colors are quite saturated, we opted for relatively even and diffused soft lighting, which brought out the fabric's woven texture without blowing out the blues or losing details. For the studio backdrop, we selected a clean, light gray background to maximize the prominence of the character and costume colors in this Wuxia photography session.

In choreographing our poses, we referenced numerous classic wuxia martial arts stances. The glance-back pose in Photo 3 left a deep impression on me: I had to turn my back to the camera, right hand holding the scabbard behind me and left hand resting naturally on the hilt, before turning my head back with a vigilant, coolly detached gaze. This posture not only required balancing my center of gravity, but also keeping the lines of my neck and shoulders taut to convey the sharp, resolute air of a martial heroine. We also repeated the horizontal two-handed sword-holding stance multiple times; the silver blade and the blue-black hilt complemented each other harmoniously, requiring precise wrist control so the longsword appeared steady and powerful in front of the lens.

The lower garment design greatly aided dynamic action. The long blue skirt has white ribbons flowing down both sides, layered over black fitted shorts underneath. This combination retained the breezy elegance of a Traditional style cosplay gown while avoiding any restriction during broad physical movements. For example, when holding the sword in profile, the skirt flared out naturally as my body turned, with white streamers cascading beside the black shorts in vivid layers. Shooting continuously in the studio for hours, putting on and taking off these multi-layered garments and armguards certainly demanded patience, and the red cords on the vambraces needed retightening between takes. Yet seeing the character's presence materialize on the camera screen made all the preparation worthwhile. The entire shoot went smoothly with seamless mutual cooperation with the photographer, and the final results faithfully captured the fine details of the costume and the essence of this Chinese anime cosplay.
