[Kirara cosplay] Genshin Impact Spring Feline Snaps in the Blossoms

The hair and makeup process for this Genshin Impact Kirara outdoor shoot required special attention. The large-diameter green contacts paired with the blonde wig really put eyeliner technique to the test—it couldn't be too heavy or it would look fierce, yet not too light or it would disappear under the sun. I used an oil-control foundation because strong outdoor sunlight and high humidity in Spring easily lead to smudging. For the lips, I chose a natural peach tone to match the blooming Spring floral ambiance.

The wig was the trickiest part. Pale blonde hair easily looks like a dry, flat hairpiece if not styled properly. I first shaped the bangs with a curling iron and locked them with styling spray. The small side pigtails actually hide wire inside; to keep them naturally perked up, I clipped invisible supports inside and worked in plenty of hair wax to craft that fluffy, natural bounce seen in the photos. The animal ears also required precision angling to keep them from looking crooked. Since the ears have built-in wire supports, I taped them securely to the inner wig mesh, adjusting repeatedly until they sat seamlessly from the front.

The main costume combines cyan-blue and dark brown fabrics, with a very heavy golden decorative knot on the chest. Putting it on required snapping the inner buttons first and securing the knot with safety pins so it wouldn't sag during dynamic movements. The sleeve patterns are delicate, though the complex layering made dressing solo time-consuming. Counterweights were added to the starry collar choker to keep it centered. Designed with a short hem that leaves the thighs bare, shooting in grassy fields demanded extra vigilance against insect bites and blade scratches.

The location featured a cherry blossom grove and a meadow carpeted with purple wildflowers. With low-hanging cherry branches, capturing soft pink bokeh was effortless. The photographer shot at f/1.4, creating gorgeous sun-dappled bokeh filtering through the leaves. However, conditions in the grass were rough: dampness made exposed legs itchy, and we had to be careful not to let prickly burrs snag the costume fabric.

To achieve ultra-low angles for this Anime-style photography, the photographer lay flat in the dirt while I crouched and lay in the grass, holding poses for extended periods. With the green contacts slightly blurring my vision, I tripped over a clump of grass while standing up and nearly knocked the chest knot off, which gave me quite a scare! Later beneath the cherry trees, finding clean compositions free of passersby took extra patience.

Photographing a character with such distinct color blocking against vivid Spring scenery turned out wonderfully, where the clash of red, green, and blue in this Sea of flowers perfectly highlighted her intrinsic vibrancy. Nailing the shoot on location made post-processing smooth; I focused on restoring warm Spring sunlight while refining skin tones and environmental shades. Out of all the characters I've cosplayed, this set captured the vibrant Spring mood exceptionally well. Documenting this recreation process has been truly satisfying.
