[Kasugano Sora Cosplay] Yosuga no Sora: The Scenery in Memory Has Changed, Yet Remained the Same

Under the same sky, after a while, I stood in front of the outdoor camera lens once again—the sunlight was still impossibly wonderful. Wearing that off-white vintage dress this time, I retraced those memory-filled green landscapes.

To match the character's demeanor as closely as possible when preparing this outfit, I paid extra attention to details across the entire body. Light-colored long twintails accented on one side with a white lace hair accessory, paired with an off-white dress featuring a collared blouse with ruffled apron details. Vertical lacing and pleats on the dress body, alongside tight stitching on the cuffs, allowed the entire garment to showcase rich texture under natural light. The lower half features classic white socks paired with black round-toe Mary Jane shoes—this sharp black-and-white color contrast creates a highly recognizable visual signature for this cosplay outfit.

For this shoot, I prepared a dark plush rabbit doll as an interactive prop. In a Location shoot, especially for quiet, ambient themes, holding such a soft item in hand is genuinely useful. When you press the plush against your chest or hold it up into the air, your body language and facial expressions relax naturally, becoming vivid and endearing.

As for shooting locations, the route this time was rich in variety. There were rough stone low walls with mottled textures, perfect for quiet, reflective close-ups; shadowed asphalt roads under tree canopies with green highway guardrails, where sunlight filtered through leaves to scatter dappled light onto the skirt hem. But the most relaxing part was shooting on the grass—lying on the lawn, looking up at pure blue skies and white clouds, and holding the long-eared rabbit above my head, it felt as though time and the wind slowed down completely.

This photoshoot was once again entrusted to photographer @karasy影雀. During discussions, he clearly understood the natural, relaxed vibe I wanted to project. During shooting, he didn't force stiff poses, but let me walk freely through scenes or sit naturally on the lawn. The shallow depth of field of large-aperture lenses was demonstrated beautifully in this photo set—background trees, fences, and roads were softly blurred into gentle blocks of color, enhancing the character's presence without overpowering it. Like a candid shot of me turning around while walking on the road, where my skirt gently billowed with the motion, capturing a light, breathable feel.

Regarding the quote mentioned in the post—that the scenery in memory has changed yet remained the same—I resonated deeply with it. Although every time I visit the same grassy slopes or roads, subtle shifts occur in vegetation colors and lighting angles brought by the seasons, the moment I put on this costume and stand at a familiar shooting angle, that serene calmness belonging uniquely to this character instantly leaps across time to merge with the present frame. This is probably the most charming and record-worthy aspect of a Location shoot.

Of course, outdoor location shoots bring tiny challenges—like getting a few mosquito bites after sitting on the grass for too long, or skirt hems catching dry leaves while walking. Yet these authentic little interludes give photos a touch of real life. Compared to relying purely on artificial lighting and post-processing in a studio setting, I personally still prefer location shoots with flowing wind, trees, and natural light and shadow.

This set essentially preserved the transparent light feel of raw shots without stacking artificial effects. Capturing those dappled spots of sunlight falling on lace edges and hair strands was precisely the peace and healing aura I wished to convey. I hope these natural, serene visuals allow viewers to feel the quiet strength interwoven between the character and the landscape.
