This shoot tried out a relatively rare white dress look for Asuka, integrating a piano backdrop to create a tranquil and dreamy visual ambiance. While she typically gives off a strong, assertive impression, this shoot aimed to reveal her soft, cute, yet tsundere side through styling and posing.
In terms of hair and makeup, I chose the classic orange-red hair color, creating high twin-tails paired with red ribbon bows. Spending considerable time clipping and setting the hair ends allowed us to achieve a light, fluffy volume. For the eyes, I selected clear, translucent blue colored contacts paired with understated eyeshadow and blush-accentuated contouring, making facial lines appear softer and more youthful. The outfit is an off-shoulder white dress with puff sleeves and a pearl necklace, with the red ribbon around the neck serving as the finishing touch—giving the entire look a vivid visual anchor against the cool-toned backdrop.
The shooting location was set in front of a white piano, with floral arrangements of varying heights decorating the background. The photographer used backlighting and a wide aperture to beautifully outline the rim lighting on my hair and shoulders. The shoot was genuinely challenging: white dresses easily overexpose under strong lighting, requiring constant adjustments to the reflector angle to balance facial lighting and dress exposure. To embody that tsundere aspect, I specifically designed a sideways pose looking back, deliberately keeping my gaze slightly cool and aloof while gently clasping my hands in front of my chest, shaping a contrast of being harsh on the outside but soft inside.
In post-processing, we mainly worked on color balance—widening the distance between cool blues and warm oranges to enhance hair texture while softening skin textures, making the overall atmosphere align closely with the soft and cute theme. Every convention or on-location shoot has its uncertainties, but the final outcome of this photo set was very satisfying, especially the captured gaze, which perfectly conveyed the intended emotions.
