During my work on the Strategic Investment Department series, I chose a fantasy space vintage study studio to bring out Topaz's crisp efficiency and slight touch of mystery from Honkai: Star Rail. Many fans follow this character because of her strong professional aura, but this time I didn't want to merely present a distant financial executive image; I wanted to get closer to her serene, unfazed focus when dealing with "ledgers" and "investments."

A lot of thought went into the makeup and hair for this shoot. The silver wig was intentionally styled into an airy short haircut, with subtle reddish-pink peekaboo highlights added to the ends and bangs to build depth and avoid the flat stiffness pure white hair can carry. Light-colored contact lenses gave her gaze a sharper, translucent feel, while earth-toned eyeshadow deepened the eye contours to project a sense of calm, busy professionalism rather than sweet, moe-style cuteness.

The details of this outfit are exquisitely crafted. The deep navy coat material possesses just the right subtle sheen, with the diamond-check suit lapels echoing the geometric patterns on the tie. Metallic badges on the chest, braided golden epaulet tassels at the shoulders, and refined stitching along the cuffs deliver rich visual layering. Leather gloves, along with the gold chains and tassels on the wide-brimmed cap, added tremendous flair to the entire ensemble. Additionally, the elegant stocking outfit accentuated the sleekness of her posture. Throughout the shoot, I kept my posture straight and poised, as a suit uniform blending military-police and merchant aesthetics easily loses its sharp energy if you slouch.

The fantasy space studio's real scene arrangement was a huge plus—two full walls filled with hardbound vintage books, dark wooden bookcases, and flooring created a rich sense of historical weight. Desk props like an antique rotary phone, quills, parchment sheets, a globe, and a magnifying glass provided deep immersion, letting me step rapidly into Topaz's character. Beyond sitting still, I actively interacted with the environment: writing with the quill on parchment, sitting on the wooden ladder to browse high shelves, and pondering the next move over a chessboard. To complement her identity as one of the "Ten Stonehearts," I also held the prop gun equipped with eerie blue light effects, taking aiming stances between the bookshelves to capture that tense blend of combat and executive work, creating a captivating contrast with her desk routine.

This kind of vintage study real-scene studio poses a serious test for a photographer's lighting technique—harsh light detaches the subject from the background, while overly diffused light loses facial dimension. The photographer @Lanqiao Shendeng expertly utilized the stained-glass vintage desk lamp on the table as a wonderful warm key light. This light source not only illuminated the desk props but also softened facial contours, giving the whole frame a warm yellowish tone with elegant shadow depths rather than a sterile studio feel.

To me, the character of Topaz isn't just about lavishly tossing coins around; as a high-ranking executive, her daily life is filled with paperwork and deep deliberation. Therefore, in this set, I deliberately scaled back exaggerated movements, focusing instead on sitting quietly while handling affairs—reading documents, answering the phone, and quietly turning items over in my hands to convey that rigorous work state. Though the costume is quite heavy with layers of fabric, hat, and wig, causing me to sweat after half a day in a closed room, seeing the finished photos made every effort worthwhile. The resulting texture matches the mature, steady professional presence I aimed for.

The shooting process was also a journey of reinterpreting the character. As a cosplayer, materializing a fictional financial prodigy into a real-world vintage study felt truly magical. This shoot not only showcased her sparkling character traits but also offered new styling and posing ideas for fellow fans. I hope this attempt, blending vintage aesthetics with professional precision, brings a fresh visual experience to everyone.
