Shot a collection of Mizuki cosplay photos at the beach this time! I had actually wanted to try this look for quite a while, and since the weather turned out wonderful, I packed up my gear and set off. By the time we arrived at the beach, it was already two or three in the afternoon; the sunlight was intensely glaring and the sand was scorching hot, feeling warm even through the soles of my shoes. Shooting in this kind of weather takes a serious toll on physical stamina, but seeing the finished photos made every bit of effort worthwhile.

In terms of wardrobe, this outfit boasts rich layering. The top features ruffled tiers color-blocked in pink and navy blue, accented with two large bow ties on the chest, while the crop-top design is perfectly suited for a casual seaside beach setting. To enhance the airy, floating feel, I layered a sheer white tulle long-sleeved cover-up over it. The lower half was paired with a matching pink-striped miniskirt; although the fabric isn't particularly heavy, I still worked up quite a sweat under the blazing sun. On my feet were blue wedge sandals tied with blue-and-white striped bows at the front, which echoed the overall color palette harmoniously. The silver-white wig required thorough styling beforehand—because the sea breeze was quite gusty, it would have easily blown into disarray without a generous coating of hairspray.

For makeup, since the overarching palette leans toward soft pinks, I centered my eye makeup around pink tones with a touch of fine shimmer, paired with light-colored contact lenses to better accentuate the character's signature traits. The golden halo hairpiece atop my head needed firm anchoring, so I used plenty of bobby pins to keep the rigging hidden. The fresh floral and fruit hair ornament on the left side served as the finishing touch, adding a vibrant touch of summer flair.

As for props, I prepared a transparent pink inflatable swim ring patterned with golden stars. The float ring was surprisingly tricky to manage because it caught the wind easily, so I had to use subtle grip control during shooting. Beside me stood a navy blue suitcase covered in an assortment of travel stickers, injecting a touch of journeying lifestyle realism. Placing a sheer mesh bag on top added visual layering. During the shoot, the photographer encouraged me to relax and remain unconstrained. I experimented with sitting on a wooden crate, resting my feet inside the swim ring, and cradling the ring against my chest. Because the skirt is fairly short, I had to be especially mindful of coverage while seated, simultaneously adjusting my leg angles so the lines appeared naturally elongated. The clicks of the camera shutter mingled with the ambient chatter along the shore, and curious passersby occasionally stopped to watch—which felt a little shy at first, but once dialed in, my focus was entirely on keeping poses fluid and natural.

To achieve the best possible results, I communicated my desired visual compositions with the photographer in advance—such as needing wide-angle shots to establish the environment alongside intimate close-ups to showcase costume nuances. For lens selection, we utilized a wide aperture to blur out urban architecture in the background, making the subject pop cleanly. Since we were outdoors in natural daylight, mastering white balance was crucial. To prevent blown-out highlights, we utilized shadows cast by the sun umbrella and luggage trunk as lighting buffers, ensuring smooth, even illumination across my face. When it came to packing, cramming all the wigs and garments into the suitcase was quite a monumental undertaking, but the final visual turnout was deeply satisfying. The entire session took about three hours, during which I touched up my makeup several times and drank plenty of water—feeling like I had tanned a whole shade darker by the end. For color grading, I went with a bright, luminous palette to highlight that crisp, translucent summer coolness. Though physically draining, the process of faithfully bringing a beloved character design to life is an absolute joy in itself.
