The equipment used for this shoot was the Sony a7CR paired with the Viltrox 50mm F1.4 Pro. This combination performs exceptionally well in Japanese-style street photography. The 50mm focal length is very close to the human eye's perspective, and combined with the large F1.4 aperture, it can clearly define the environment while blurring away background clutter, allowing the visual focus to rest entirely on the subject.

The shooting location was chosen on a sloped street in a Japanese residential area; these staggered steps and railings naturally carry a quiet, everyday lifestyle atmosphere. Since it was a sunny day and the light was quite harsh, I tried to choose shaded spots under trees or use backlighting to illuminate the hair strands. For the set sitting on the white railing facing the light sideways, not only did it make the skin look more translucent, but the texture of the black stockings and leather shoes was also well outlined. The leg lines appeared sleeker guided by the railing, and the absolute territory is an indispensable highlight of this sailor uniform.

In terms of clothing, it's the classic navy-blue sailor uniform on a white base, paired with a large wine-red bow. This color scheme stands out remarkably against the background of green trees and white walls. To enhance the narrative feel of the images, I also prepared a vintage rangefinder camera as a prop. Whether holding it and looking down or raising it up pretending to focus, it helps naturalize poses that might otherwise easily feel stiff. The blue vending machine at the street corner is an exceptional prop; squatting next to it, holding a drink or just quietly gazing forward, the contrast between the cool-toned machine and the subject instantly pops out.

The autumn streets are scattered with fallen yellow leaves; picking up a leaf to hold in front of the face or observing it against the sunlight are both classic Japanese photography actions. When composing, I deliberately utilized the extending lines of the street or the diagonals of the railings to give the subject a sense of elongation within the frame. Overall, what I wanted to convey with this set of photos is an everyday, casual, yet slightly melancholic youthful atmosphere—free from deliberate posing, feeling more like casual strolling and stopping on the way home from school.
