Shooting Yin Ziping's Chalcedony ice core skin from NARAKA: BLADEPOINT took nearly half a month from early prep to final delivery. Because the character features white twintails alongside intricate layers of sheer chiffon and lace, considerable effort went into garment selection and wig shaping. The wig required extra-long twin tails with flawless fiber layering that wouldn't look frizzy when twirling during takes. The white folding fan in my hand was custom-crafted by a prop master; the bone frame's tactile finish and the fan leaf's translucency under studio lights proved vital on camera.
We chose an authentic Chinese-style studio featuring a massive full moon and blossoming white trees, echoing the poetic theme of blooming blossoms and round moons. Flanking wooden folding screens and hanging scroll paintings added deep spatial perspective. The shoot proved quite physically demanding: to showcase the fluttering flow of this Chinese-style cosplay dress, I continuously spun the hemline and reset the twintails. While the ruffles and ribbon bindings look stunning, dressing was intricate and required an assistant to smooth each tier into place. Wearing over-the-knee white Stockings and high heels while sustaining specific poses for hours tested my leg and core endurance, but seeing the final frames made every effort worthwhile.
In terms of lighting, we explored high contrast between warm and cool tones. The moon and flowering trees in the background were bathed in cool blue-white light to emphasize an ethereal, celestial detachment, while candleholders and lanterns in the foreground provided warm amber illumination, rendering skin textures translucent and clean. This interplay of warm and cool light sculpted vivid dimensional pop within the central circular frame. I relaxed my posture before the lens, using the folding fan as an eyeline guide while shifting my gaze to evoke the character's agile grace, feeling truly immersed within the game world while standing framed in the center.
For makeup, to complement the white hair and crimson eyes, eye shadow was defined with bold red gradients, paired with a saturated true-red lip so facial features wouldn't wash out against the cool background. In post-processing, authentic fabric textures and environmental details were preserved without aggressive smoothing or exaggerated grading to retain organic tactile fidelity. Recreating this game character in a Chinese-style studio was an absolute joy, blending classical aesthetic elegance with anime character fidelity. I'm thrilled to finally unveil these photos today and hope everyone feels the weightless poise and cool glamour of the Chalcedony ice core skin. I look forward to exploring more NARAKA: BLADEPOINT characters down the line.
