[Izumi Sagiri cosplay] Blue Eyes and Soft Lighting, the Moe Texture from Eromanga Sensei

Regarding this Izumi Sagiri cosplay, the initial motivation that made me decide to do it was actually wanting to try these slightly wavy light purple twin tails. But during the actual preparation, the part I spent the most effort selecting was the eyes, which is the core of this makeup and styling—the Aikutoba blue lenses from the 'Eva loves colored contacts' cosplay series.

While doing my research on Cosplay contact lenses sharing, I saw many fellow cosplayers recommending this large-diameter blue style. However, after actually putting them on, the perfectly balanced color payoff still pleasantly surprised me. The blue tone of these contacts isn't a stiff pure blue, but a deep blue with a hint of translucency. The outer black ring is quite distinct, which instantly makes the pupils look visually enlarged once worn. Paired with my eye makeup this time—slightly extending the eyeliner and adding long, dense cluster false eyelashes—the proportion of the eyes on the face immediately increased significantly, perfectly matching the innocent and pure gaze in Eromanga Sensei's original illustrations.

For the wig, I chose a long light purple wig with a creamy texture. To make the airy feel of the bangs more natural and not stiff, I used a dedicated curling iron to add a slight curve. The twin tails on both sides were tied slightly lower, accessorized with glossy bright pink satin bows. The placement of the bows is actually quite particular; if tied too high, they look too playful, and if too low, they look dragged down. Placing them just behind the ears brings great balance to the overall look.

In terms of makeup, I specifically used a warm-toned peach blush, sweeping it extensively across the mid-face and under the eyes to create a slightly tipsy, fleshy feel—what people often call a "plump and soft" makeup effect. Combined with the high-brightness frontal lighting this time, the base makeup presented a creamy glowing texture. The close-up in photo two is a state I'm quite satisfied with; under bright natural light, the blue color payoff of the Aikutoba blue lenses is truly photogenic. It's incredibly pigmented and doesn't swallow up the eye color at all. This large-diameter design is indeed as effective as described in the posts, making it extremely suitable for creating this kind of Big-eyed twin-tailed moe girl character.

For cosplay photoshoots, besides the costume and makeup, the comfort of wearing contact lenses is also very important. After wearing these lenses for a few hours, my eyes still remained hydrated, without any lens sliding or dryness causing unfocused gazes in the photos. Personally, when I'm cosplaying, the state of the eyes often determines the spirit of a photo. If the gaze isn't bright and clear enough, no matter how accurate the wig and costume are, it will seem to lack a soul.

It can be said that this complete makeup and styling—from the smooth light purple wig and the skin-brightening, eye-enlarging contact lenses to the detailed control of blush and highlighter—are all efforts to inch closer to that girl drawn by Eromanga Sensei. Although many people think there will always be a dimensional wall when bringing 2D characters into 3D, I believe that as long as you pinpoint the character's most prominent features—like Izumi Sagiri's signature blue eyes—and pair them with a well-fitted costume and cute expressions, you can convey that character's unique atmosphere in the photos. I am quite satisfied with the overall completeness of this attempt.
