In Eromanga Sensei, the greatest charm of Izumi Sagiri lies in that shut-in, socially awkward yet overwhelmingly adorable vibe. To capture this atmosphere, the entire styling relies on the classic palette of pastel pink and pure white.
Let's talk about the wig and makeup first. I chose a long, straight silver-white wig with a subtle hint of greyish-blue; I trimmed the bangs into light, wispy strands and kept the hair ends sleek and smooth. The little pink ribbon clips on both sides were absolutely crucial, instantly capturing the character's visual identity. For makeup, I wore blue colored contacts to enhance that ethereal 2D anime charm, with extensive pink eyeshadow base and slightly downturned eyeliner at the outer corners for an innocent, pure look. Applying blush right beneath the eyes accentuated a youthful, doll-like sweetness—a classic approach for little sister character makeup.
The costume details were quite intricate. The top is a long-sleeved shirt crafted from subtle shimmery pink fabric, featuring a pure white Peter Pan doll collar tied with a pink ribbon bow. The cuffs and hem are adorned with ruffled frills, which, together with the tiny pink bows along the placket and wrists, create rich textural depth. For the bottom, I paired it with matching pink bloomers whose fluffy ruffled edges visually slim the thighs. The most eye-catching element is undoubtedly the White over-the-knee socks—made of thick, opaque pure white material, falling just above the knee to create a glimpse of the absolute territory against the bloomers, which stands out as a core highlight of this styling.
For these Convention photos, I captured several distinct poses. The first shot sitting on the carpet with a high leg raise actually took quite an effort to balance. Raising one leg high requires not only flexibility but also engaging with the camera; because it's a feisty yet delightfully endearing pose, the gaze needed a touch of playfulness. The second shot looking back on the black bench focused on keeping the back straight and slightly tucking the chin while turning toward the lens, an angle that slims the face while showcasing the cut of the full outfit in a kneeling position. The background here was clean, free from convention clutter. Another shot featured lying prone on the carpet drawing on a tablet—since the character's profession is an illustrator, recreating the drawing scene was essential. The tablet stand even featured a cat-head pattern, adding playful charm to the details.
The biggest challenges in convention photography are lighting and venue conditions. Lighting at conventions is often overhead and harsh, casting unflattering shadows on the face. Fortunately, the photographer found a relatively good corner with a large grey carpet as a backdrop base, softening the overall color tone. In the final shots, the cool-toned ambient lighting created a comfortable warm-and-cool contrast against the pink costume.
Regarding maintaining my on-camera state: because the wig was long, walking around easily caused tangling or flattening, so I constantly combed the bangs and ends during breaks to keep it fluffy. Also, sitting in bloomers can cause them to ride up easily without care, so I had to adjust the hemline repeatedly. The white stockings easily caught dust when sitting on concrete floors, ending up slightly smudged after the shoot, but for the sake of the final image, these minor flaws are easily overlooked. Walking around all day in this costume was indeed exhausting, but the moment I saw the photos, everything felt deeply rewarding in this Anime cosplay journey.
