Setting up the pink plush blanket and dolls by the bed and changing into this loose white T-shirt, I finally captured the "Sagiri" version of home daily life. Actually, many friends might think this character is just a "little shut-in" at home, but by putting on the right clothes and adjusting the lighting, one can still present a vibrant and cute feel. The concept of this photo set is mainly to recreate that lazy, comfortable, and slightly playful feeling.
Before preparing for this photoshoot, I specially picked out this silver-gray wig and small pink bows; these two accessories are the most core elements of this look. To find the foundation shade that best fits the light hair color, I also tested several foundations and setting powders. For the lighting setup on site, the photographer and I agreed on using softboxes combined with reflectors, and even placed RGB light sticks a bit further away to supplement the warm-and-cool contrast around the face and background. Because the white T-shirt itself eats up light, if you aren't careful with the lighting, the clothes and skin tone can easily blend together, losing the layers of detail.
When doing a shoot of this casual style at home, a sense of privacy and laziness is especially important. Therefore, I chose to scatter plush toys all over the bed to fill the entire frame with a soft texture. While holding the game console, I was actually thinking about her usual state of playing games, drawing, and trying hard to make friends. In terms of movements, I relaxed as much as possible, like resting my face on my hand while lying on my side, or pinching a strand of hair, completely immersing myself in this character's psychological state. Speaking of which, finishing this photo set took quite a lot of effort; to adjust to the best poses, angles, and depth of field effects under different apertures, the photographer and I repeatedly adjusted our positions several times.
The room lighting on the shooting day wasn't particularly abundant, thanks to the photographer's precise control over the reflector position, which softened the facial shadows to the most natural extent. In addition, I also specifically looked after the light and shadow transition on the neck and jawline; since the lens heavily eats up facial contours, applying a thin layer of highlighting foundation can effectively brighten the center of the face. In terms of props, that pink handheld console had actually sat in the prop storage for a long time; bringing it out this time perfectly aligned with the overall atmosphere of this young girl's room. This low-saturation combination provides great visual comfort.
During post-processing, I intentionally preserved the original brightness and translucency of the frame, without making too many intense contrast adjustments. Retaining the native highlights makes the light in the bedroom look more authentic instead. The pink and cyan printed patterns on the white T-shirt also happened to echo the pink style on the bed.
Regarding everyone's questions about this outfit, this is the character's highly representative summer loungewear—a long-sleeved white T-shirt paired with white stockings, which is the simplest daily coordination. I feel that costumes do not need to be overly magnificent; the closer they are to daily life, the more they can reflect the character's cute and authentic side. Since she is a character I personally love very much, I hope every expression and every frame of the image can convey her natural curiosity toward the world while retaining a bit of timid softness. The entire Roleplay process was actually very relaxing, just like a playmate coming over to my house and casually helping me record the afternoon hours. After this kind of refinement, my understanding of portraying this character has deepened by another layer, and I am very happy to share these small shooting tips and mindsets with everyone.
