[Robin cosplay] Honkai: Star Rail: On-Site Look at the Tianhuan Clan Maiden

For this August 17 ICOS anime convention, my primary goal was to capture this Robin cosplay look properly. The moment I put on the headpiece and wig and entered the hall, the overall character atmosphere came to life. This set of selfies was taken during a quiet moment right after finishing the main hair and makeup styling in the venue. To recreate the character's spirit, I applied numerous delicate details to the eye makeup—not only wearing vibrant green contact lenses to enhance pupil proportions, but also applying star-shaped glitter under the lower eyelids to give my gaze a more spirited, sparkling look.

The wig was the centerpiece of this styling. Such a blue-purple gradient color can easily look heavy under real-world lighting, so I spent considerable time trimming the bangs and side hair in layers, deliberately pulling out a deep-blue highlight on the left. I tried my best to camouflage the support rod of the floating halo atop my head with strands of hair; although it's still slightly visible from a selfie angle, its structural presence works wonderfully with low-angle shots. Combined with the white-and-pink gradient Tianhuan clan feathered wings on both shoulders, it beautifully brought out Robin's signature lightness.

The venue had plenty of overhead lighting that day, with high-color-temperature spotlights casting soft highlights across the light-blue hair. When taking selfies, I found a pink floral backdrop on the side of the exhibition area; the pink faux flowers and my blue-and-white outfit created an ideal warm-and-cool color contrast, keeping the composition visually dynamic. This sailor-collared plaid top paired with a white lace inner layer exhibited delicate textures in close-up head-and-shoulder framing, clearly highlighting details like the blue neckline stripes and metallic buttons.

At conventions with a rich anime atmosphere like ICOS, everyone is very welcoming toward cosplay recreation. I didn't force any exaggerated poses, simply holding up my phone naturally to capture a few candid shots where my gaze and facial angles aligned seamlessly. After finishing these selfies, I spent the entire afternoon walking around the hall, taking photos with many fellow cosplayers. Traversing the crowd in this outfit with wings garnered a lot of attention due to its distinctive look, and the sense of connection from having the character's aura recognized by everyone was fantastic.

Even though they were selfies, I still wanted to present an authentic portrayal of Robin without compromising textural details just because they were shot on a smartphone. If the wig's bangs get messy while walking, it drastically affects character recognizability, so I carried styling spray with me for constant touch-ups. The makeup held up for about six hours, from entering at 9 AM until around 3 PM, maintaining consistent quality matching what is shown in these photos.

Beyond selfies, sharing this photo set also serves as styling inspiration for Casual cosplay. If you attend conventions, trying bright floral backdrops or well-lit booths can effectively elevate the overall tone of your Convention photos. This convention photo experience largely achieved the desired effect; although the headpiece prop caused minor inconvenience during security checks and in tight crowds, the overall styling completion was very high. That wraps up my live report from the 8.17 ICOS convention—wearing the full outfit all day was somewhat tiring, and now it's time to find a spot to sit and rest.
