[Yae Miko cosplay] Lady Guuji of the Grand Narukami Shrine in Genshin Impact

Choosing Yae Miko's official outfit was a long-held plan of mine. After receiving the wig, I spent a lot of time trimming and styling it myself. To achieve the voluminous effect of pink hair with fox ears, I thinned out the ends in layers and carefully shaped the curves with matte pink styling wax, keeping the curling iron on low heat to avoid damaging the synthetic fibers.

For the cosplay makeup, I chose violet contact lenses with a natural diameter paired with pink-purple eyeshadow, concentrating on deepening the outer corners and winging them upward. I layered a brown gel pencil with black liquid eyeliner to create subtly upturned fox eyes. A soft sakura pink blush was dusted under the eyes and onto the apples of the cheeks. For the base, a long-wear liquid foundation concealed blemishes while preserving natural skin texture and glow. Fine champagne shimmer highlighted the nose bridge and inner eye corners, and the lip look combined a matte lip mud base with gloss dabbed on the Cupid's bow.

The costume was custom-tailored. The white high-collar fabric features delicate patterns and a graceful drape, while the sleeves are made of breathable pink pleated fabric adorned with gold-embroidered butterfly wing accents. I handcrafted the shimmering gold chest accessory with the purple flower myself: after rounding the edges of the base plate, I applied gold foil glitter, coated the purple petals with high-gloss varnish, and suspended it with a red cord. The glitter creates wonderful dimension under lighting, though applying the clear coat was tricky to prevent harsh glare from looking cheap.

The weather was uncooperative on shooting day, so we set up studio lighting indoors. It took considerable time to position the lights to achieve clean, luminous portraiture without causing harsh reflections on the prop's glitter. Throughout the shoot, I focused on natural hand placement—resting hands lightly against my chest or cheeks to highlight the character's grace. Out of dozens of captures, I chose these three favorites.

As for the popular community meme mentioned in the title, I found the clever pun genuinely hilarious. It offers an amusing contrast to her regal nature, adding an unexpectedly adorable, down-to-earth charm. A great deal of heart went into everything from preparation to editing, and seeing the final results brings a real sense of fulfillment.
