Taking advantage of good weather, I completed this shoot for Genshin Impact Nilou cosplay. The location chosen was a wild stream on Qingcheng Mountain. Looking back now, mountain breeze and water vapor were abundant that day; stepping barefoot into the icy stream water allowed me to truly feel the temperature of nature with hints of dirt and moss.

The details on this costume are truly extensive, especially the black and gold horn structures on the head with red and blue gem accents, along with the white sheer veil that looks exceptionally translucent under natural light. For makeup, to fit the character, I deliberately lengthened the eyeliner, paired with high-saturation red hair, creating a striking visual contrast against Qingcheng Mountain's lush green environment and mountain spring reflection. The waist-exposing costume cut, combined with detached sleeve cuffs and gold armguards, demanded strict posture control during this outdoor shoot to maintain movement range without wrinkling the fabric.

The legs are one of the visual focal points of this photo set. The crisscrossing metallic-textured straps and open-toe sandals take quite some time to put on and take off, but once fully equipped, they radiate exotic charm and power. Most of the shoot was spent stepping on rocks or soaking in water; rocks beneath the water were slippery, requiring extreme caution to keep balance while managing facial expressions. To harmonize with water flow and the environment, I performed many leg lifts, arm stretches, and gentle touches to head ornaments. The photographer caught great timing for Outdoor cosplay photography, perfectly capturing frames filled with floating bubbles. These water effects blended naturally with the real scenery, adding extra fantastical atmosphere to the images.

The environment of Qingcheng Mountain is genuinely suited for water-element themed shoots. The natural light that day was soft diffuse lighting; under the dense woods, sunlight filtered down to form dappled highlights on the stream surface. We specifically selected a shallow bank where water flowed gently, surrounded by scattered stones rounded from years of erosion and covered in moss, possessing fantastic texture and color. The boost from this raw natural scenery is something studio sets cannot simulate at all, allowing the character to relax much more easily.

The shooting process was far more tedious than it looks, especially moving back and forth in the middle of the stream. To display dynamic postures naturally in photos, we repeatedly tried many camera angles. Seated shots on scattered rocks tested physical stamina, as uneven stone surfaces required holding my core steady while letting the blue and white tassels of the skirt drape naturally or get wet in the water. Luckily, synergy with the photographer was top-notch; rather than forcing rigid poses, moving naturally with the flow of the water yielded photos with much more vitality.

Seeing the final photos, I am deeply thankful for the meticulous preparations before setting out. Whether repairing and reinforcing headpieces or stitching golden trims with blue and white fabrics, everything rendered nicely on camera. For waterside outdoor locations like this, safety must always come first—always test footholds firmly before shooting, as water surface reflections can sometimes obstruct vision. Although the entire shoot was physically demanding, being able to convey the character's nimble spirit through the visuals made all the hard work completely worthwhile.
