When shooting this Sankarea: Undying Love cosplay look, it happened to coincide with the peak season of hydrangeas in full bloom. The blue, purple, pink, and white clusters crowding all over the hills, paired with the character's iconic purple sailor uniform and white top, achieved a highly saturated visual unity. During the costume preparation stage, I specially chose a white shirt with a stiffer texture so that the folds of the sailor collar could nicely support a three-dimensional look. Paired with a purple pleated skirt and a high-contrast royal blue bow tie, it beautifully restores the classic school uniform image of Rea Sanka. The white flower hairpin on my head is actually a homage to that iconic white flower in the character's setting.

When many people mention Sankarea: Undying Love, they often associate it with the melancholic Dark Gothic style in the work, or the mysterious storylines. However, for the choice of this look, I decided to take an alternative approach and select this highly casual JK uniform. The white long-sleeved top paired with a purple pleated skirt, tied with a crisp royal blue large bow, not only echoes the massive surrounding patches of blue and purple hydrangeas in color but also stays closer to the vibrant appearance the character might present in daily life. The sunshine filters through the layered flowers and leaves, casting dappled light and shadow on the black over-the-knee socks, adding a sense of narrative to this originally simple uniform.

The shoot that day was actually not easy. Both picture one and picture two are moments captured while sitting on a white metal openwork bench. In the outdoor environment with relatively intense ambient light, to avoid harsh shadows on the face, the shooting angles were intentionally adjusted to let the light outline the figure as a side-backlight. Picture three is a behind-the-scenes work snapshot casually taken with a phone during a scene transition, holding a large black soft leather bag and getting ready to enter the next shooting spot. This switch from outdoor locations to indoor sets is actually a very real part of the daily routine behind every completed Anime cosplay photo set. The cut of this costume imposes certain restrictions on mobility, but to restore the character's physical traits, I had to keep my back perfectly straight at all times whether standing or sitting. I hope everyone can feel the unique serenity and beauty of the hydrangea season from these few photos taken from different angles.
