This set of summer water-playing photos of Blue Archive's Misaki cosplay was shot in an outdoor shallow pool with abundant natural light. Blue is the core visual element running through this entire project; whether it's the props or the costumes, we wanted to present a clear summer atmosphere.
The navy blue one-piece swimsuit I wore this time features a fine white piping design, forming a classic blue and white color scheme with the white stockings. To break up the monochromatic look, I layered a loose blue-and-white striped jacket over it, wearing it draped halfway down my arms in most shots to add a casual, laid-back visual feel. The white halo on my head and the bow knot hair accessory are also key points of the makeup and styling, maintaining clear outlines even under the intense glare.
The location chosen was a clean white shallow pool, where the tiles along the bank and the pool walls at the bottom reflected the sunlight beautifully, providing an excellent fill-light effect. We brought an inflatable swim ring featuring a blue and white color scheme as our main shooting prop, which not only filled out the composition but also visually integrated with the outfit and background, making the colors across the entire shooting area highly unified.
During the specific shoot, I tried various sitting poses. Whether lazily sitting in the swim ring while lifting one arm to wave, or sitting on the edge of the pool dipping both legs into the clear, shallow water, accompanied by the tiny ripples on the water's surface, the overall atmosphere was perfectly captured. Utilizing the intense sunlight, we deliberately captured some frames with lens flares; the shimmering light refracted by the sun through the water allowed the "cool composure" and "sunlit warmth" to coexist in the photos.
I believe that beyond her usual steady composure, the agility and approachable charm shown by Misaki in her swimsuit look are highly captivating. This sense of contrast is also the emotional core that this shoot aimed to capture. While completing this set of photos, apart from maintaining poses and coordinating with the lens, I also had to be careful about water splashes wetting the wig and jacket, but fortunately, the final result was satisfying.
Being able to complete a full swimsuit outdoor photography session in such a translucent lighting environment was a highly enjoyable experience. I hope this summer-themed plane work can fully convey the current cooling atmosphere. I thoroughly enjoyed this process of outdoor creation by the water and hope to present Misaki's most refreshing and vivid side in summer.
