[Keqing Cosplay] A Sumptuous Dish—Please, Do Enjoy It!

Cutting straight to the point, today I'm sharing this set of customer photos for Genshin Impact's Keqing cosplay. To enhance visual interest, we planned three entirely distinct shooting themes corresponding to three props: a floral bouquet, a bamboo flute, and a sword. We aimed to express different facets of the character's demeanor under a single hair and makeup look, which served as a great exercise in shifting emotional nuance.

Starting with costume details: this dark-themed off-the-shoulder dress offers rich texture, featuring fine black lace paneling along the collar line paired with natural skin exposure around the neck to cleanly frame the collarbone. Metal-textured gold hollow ornaments adorn the waist, contrasting boldly with voluminous layered skirts in navy, light blue, and dark violet. Fishbone boning along the hem supports structure, maintaining elegant layering whether standing or seated. To match the opulent aesthetic, purple arm cuffs wrapped around the arms and small blue tassels embellishing the ankles were indispensable accents—these subtle nuances define the completeness of the overall styling.

For hair styling, a light purple wig was shaped into high twin tails with straight-cut blunt bangs for a subtle vintage touch. Hair buns atop the head were sculpted into horn-like curves, decorated with blue bow ribbons and pearls, while light blackish-blue tulle draped behind the head flew dynamically in front of studio wind fans.

Makeup focused heavily on the eyes: bright blue contact lenses paired with delicate violet eyeshadow and winged eyeliner conveyed a cool, slightly melancholic aura. Natural, soft nude-pink lip tones kept the face balanced without visual clutter, allowing focus to rest on the gaze and facial contours.

As for behind-the-scenes moments: the caption mentions preventing food shrinkage and generous serving sizes, which echoed in the physical shoot. To achieve dramatic depth, the costume featured intentional tailoring redundancy and layering, making standing and moving around on set quite heavy when paired with black high heels and platform soles. During seated studio shots, keeping the blue tassels on glossy black leather heels dangling naturally without tangle required constant fine-tuning of knee and toe angles, especially with smooth stocking material where slight force shifted pose stability in this Stocking outfit.

Prop interaction served as the heart of this shoot. White and yellow roses with leafy accents formed the bouquet, fitting the soft tones of the floral backdrop to create a romantic, wedding-like ambiance. In the traditional set, a black bamboo flute decorated with red tassels and a perforated jade pendant immediately induced a tranquil, scholarly calm. Transitioning to the studio highlight, the magnificent sword with a blue-purple gradient became the unmistakable visual centerpiece. Wielding the sword tested physical strength, requiring steady grips, fluid starting stances, and turns, all while coordinating with the photographer to capture wind-blown hair dynamics.

Lighting setups were customized accordingly: the soft floral set favored high-key diffuse reflection for a dreamy, romantic atmosphere; the traditional set used localized warm key lights to highlight scrolls and lanterns through light-and-shadow contrast; while the solid-color studio backdrop employed cool gradient lighting to sharpen character contours and weapon dimensionality.

Facing a new character outfit always requires lengthy collaboration with hair and makeup artists to refine details. This time, we focused intensely on color transitions between black lace and blue skirts, as well as preventing wig flyaways under different lighting setups. Seeing the final results, all front-end preparation and live-action adjustments were thoroughly rewarding.

Ultimately, the magic of cosplay lies in transforming a flat 2D concept into a concrete, living persona through costume, props, makeup, and photography. Whether revealing a gentle side or a sharp demeanor, it represents a tangible expression of character aura. Pursuing this contrast across diverse settings allows one shoot to encompass varied emotions—a valuable practice in sharp camera capture and personal expressive capability in the art of Roleplay.
