The light by the pool is exceptionally translucent, and this combination of swimsuit and sports jacket is actually a favorite pairing of mine. The blue and white color scheme of the sports jacket perfectly echoes the cyan-blue lines on the swimsuit, making the overall look both refreshing and energetic. The weather was beautiful on the day of the shoot, and the reflection from the water surface hit my face, which made my skin tone look very clean. The targeting halo hair accessory and animal ears are crucial elements for character accuracy; the prop team spent a lot of effort securing them, but fortunately, the final effect turned out very natural.
This time, the scene was chosen by the pool with white wicker lounge chairs. The white building backdrop and the blue pool formed a very clean color contrast, which is particularly suitable for this bright and lively style. Wearing the jacket half-off was also meant to simulate a casual state while resting by the pool, preventing it from looking too rigid. Actually, when shooting this kind of waterside theme, the most critical thing to watch out for is the lighting angle. Front lighting can easily overexpose the face, while side-backlighting can easily cause heavy shadows on facial features. The photographer repeatedly adjusted the position several times to find the current soft texture.
The reflection of the swimsuit material is also quite particular; the fabric surface shouldn't have too strong a specular reflection, otherwise it would look greasy. Post-processing retained the original texture of the skin without excessive smoothing, keeping the details of water droplets and pores visible, which provides a stronger sense of realism. Shiroko as a character is rather quiet, but I really wanted to express that quiet yet slightly cute gap-moe contrast when she relaxes by the pool. Therefore, I didn't make too many exaggerated expressions, relying more on relaxed postures and subtle movements of the eyes to convey emotions.
Actions like slightly tilting my head to look at the camera in the picture, or the sitting posture with my hands on my knees, all strive to stay close to the character's daily state. The wind by the pool was actually quite strong, making both the wig and the jacket's hem flutter, but luckily we captured stable snapshots. Additionally, the black-and-white color-blocked sports bag next to me served perfectly as a prop decoration to prevent the frame from looking too empty. What I am relatively satisfied with in this set is the color saturation control; the clarity of the blue wasn't ruined by excessively high saturation, and the overall color tone leans cool, fitting the theme of a refreshing summer. For this character interpretation, I feel that I captured that quiet and casual atmosphere in my demeanor, while adding a touch of playful detail to the movement design, such as the shot where I am pinching the jacket's collar. I hope this set of photos allows everyone to feel a vivid, life-like Sunaōkami Shiroko, rather than just a 2D image wearing a swimsuit for this Swimsuit cosplay and Anime-style photography session.
